What pisses me off is that results like this and Man U , feed the narrative of lazy journalists who say that Villa will struggle to cope with CL and PL fixtures.

Yes, this pisses me off too.

Not read any earlier comments to see what others thoughts are, was at the game and just watched the sky highlights, my general opinion hasn’t changed, didn’t really think we had a hangover from the Champions league, on another day we could have been 3 or 4 up if it wasn’t for their keeper, unfortunately when you are only 1 up going into the last few minutes, you give the other team a bit of hope to go for it, we didn’t learn from giving away a few free kicks from a similar area, I saw at the game Cash getting a hard time from Konsa over the goal, watching it now, I think that may have been a bit harsh if Cash was in the position he was told to be in, it was a good ball that just dropped over his head, thought Duran could have been closer to the goal scorer, but again he might have been where he was told to be, good ball and good header, sometimes you have to give them credit. Overall I thought we did enough to have won the game, felt like a loss at the end but let’s keep our heads up and looking forward to the next games and I’m sure we’ll be fine

Points dropped but think we will batter spuds anyway. Liverpool will be tricky but was a fair result as it was a pen for Bournemouth

I thought we were comfortable and held them at arms length, without ever having full control. I think our downfall was decision making in the final third, we got into so many promising wide positions and wasted them, even the McGinn 'goal' surely Jacob is scoring that, no overhitting the pass for a tap in. And that wasn't the only one.

Emi had little to do so to concede from what little they created was criminal, and what a game their keeper had, 4 top class saves was it?

Overall, a wasted opportunity from a great position.

Should have won & it should have been comfortable. We opened them up multiple times but never picked out a player or when we did it was missed. The frustration comes from the fact that it was as dominant as any performance this season.

The last ten minutes was ridiculous, if you're going to bring a player down do it on the halfway line & not when he's reached the point where they can throw everything into the box.

Reminiscent of the Wolves game a couple of years ago which we lost. We got lucky with the penalty decision today.

Love Matty Cash but we need a right back.

I’ve thought that a few times this season that it looks like they are just cutting it back into an area, rather than actually picking someone out, maybe carrying out instructions and hoping someone is there

Obviously disappointing to concede such a late equaliser but to be fair I thought Bournemouth played a good game and deserved their point. Both keepers had to make good saves, not just theirs.

That was a shit goal to concede. Cash and Duran blaming each other, watching the ball and not tracking the player. Basics to get to a cross as it comes in.

It was obvious Barkley was going to foul him there and I was screaming St him not to, and when it was awarded I just knew they were going to score.

We need to be more clinical up front, and more solid and sensible at the back when we're in front late in games. There's nothing wrong in closing out a 1-0 with dull and uninspiring football.

We were the better team but we should not have conceded in that manner. The only path for them was by free kick or corner, all Cash needed to do was keep the player running wide, the foul is typical of the way he plays the game. What stood out for me was the lack of pace down our flanks, Bailey for me seems to be running at half pace. It's no disaster but Emery will see what we see and the rebuild is not yet finished. More pace please.
It's Barkley who dives in to concede the free kick leading to the goal.

So frustrating. He’s running along at full pelt, Barkley up his arse, Cash in front of him, and his team-mates spread all over the pitch. Just jockey, or even let him get his cross in. Whatever you do, don’t foul and allow a cross where nobody is allowed to stand within ten-yards and he can aim towards ten of his team-mates all in our box.

Ceded control last ten minutes. Whether’s that fatigue or trying to defend what we had I don’t know. Not going to blame just Barkley as it was the third or fourth in a series of stupid fouls. Grrrrrr
Barkley, no.
Matty, yes - who was he supposed to be marking across the backline?
If he was stood right in front of the goalscorer he would have had an easy headed clearance, and still allowed him time to cover a late runner into the channels (if necessary).

Should Martinez be getting beaten by a header from that position? Not sure his footwork was as sharp as it could have been.

I know some are desperate to have a go at Cash, if anything it's Duran who loses his man for the header.

All depends whether they were stood where they was told to, looks like we zonal mark rather than pick up a man, if Cask could have stood in front of the striker, then Duran should also have moved forward as he could see better what was happening

Barkey could of smashed him a bit earlier, like nearer the halfway line. Have to say the bournmouth centre half with the rolled down socks did a good job on Watkins today. Ramsey was our best player, Rogers off the boil.
