Unable to get a right-back due to PSR according to Monchi and Vidigany, and still a priority according to Jacob Tanswell, Villa correspondent for The Athletic. So it’s not like they don’t realise that Cash is a weak link.

I still think people are going to be disappointed in the right-back quest. Madrid and Man City definitely need new ones as a priority, so if the shiny expensive ones that we might like are going there, other clubs who have just lost their shiny expensive right-back are going to need replacements.

Reckon we might find ourselves quite far back in the queue.

That's where our recruitment department need to earn their money and find one that isn't shiny but can become shiny for us.

That's what KN is meant to be surely. Certainly scouted him for long enough and already looks to have one foot back out the door in January. On the evidence of his horror cameo in Leipzig you can see why. We couldn't really afford this season to have KN and JP so far off the pace given how light the squad is.

What people want more than a marauding attacking right back is a winning team that at least looks capable of keeping a clean sheet. If having a solid defender at right back, who isn't at fault for many goals we concede, is what it takes then so be it.

Lots of people get very upset when Konsa is played there, as they don't think his solidity makes up for his lack of ability going forward.
It would give us the option to Konsa to play Centre Half even when we decide we want to be more solid on the right.

Wouldn't an easier solution then (assuming we plan to upgrade Carlos anyway) be to buy a new, commanding right-sided centre-back?

Much more of them around than right-backs.

Indeed. Konsa and Pau is a tried and failed partnership sadly.

Or just opt for both?

Both players that aren't as good as Cash to replace him.

Desperate transfer bid because then there's another stick to beat people with and to moan about.

PSR - people keep on ignoring this like it has gone away, when it clearly has not.

I’d be amazed if we can find two affordable upgrades in the January window.

And why stop there? Maybe add a couple of extra strikers, three or four midfielders and a spare goalkeeper to the list as well.

Just rip it all up and start again.

I'd sell Philogene for £300 million and we can go from there. Pretty straightforward.

Chelsea should sell us their 4th choice keeper for 30m and in return, we sell them the Black Country for about the same, and thus book all the profit in year one, hey presto, instant spending room.

Or just stick to the two like the post suggested? Not sure why you have to go so extreme on the point  its abit childish really. You expect better from a moderator but whatever floats your boat.

Ways around it.  Maybe can get a loan and one other player maybe. I mean we found rogers for peanuts for example.

Do we actually know what our PSR position is?

It was you who said that you'd happily flog the whole back four in the summer. Why be so extreme indeed.

We paid 10m for Rogers. That's not peanuts. In the summer, had we not just about sold Luiz in time, we'd have been fucked - Vidagany's words.

You really shouldn't.
