Very good read that. Before my time but interesting all the same.
I knew about Pele and Santos coming to Villa Park, what a night that must have been.

A very good read. I am able to claim that I saw Pele play but in truth I saw the top of his head. At 5 foot 4 on a packed Holte I spent the night jumping up and down to catch a glimpse of the game. The crush was so great that the arms of my specs cracked under the pressure.

Santos trying to negotiate more money when they saw the size of the crowd made me laugh. Out of interest how much did Doug charge for a ticket that night ?

Can't remember how much the tickets were but I do remember that I joined the queue to get into the Holte End nearer to the church than the Holte pub.

I really enjoyed reading that, it reminded me of my Dad, coming home after watching Pele.
It’s something special, following The Villa.
