I feel that it would be wrong for me to comment before Big Daz has clocked in.

Or before Legion as "Done" whatever he does.

I agree with all of that!
That FA Cup quarter final against Albion was quite a night too!

One of the best articles I've read on here. AKA, I agree with every word of it.

Good read that. Sums things up really well.

It's interesting, because lots of people who know I'm Villa, have stopped me and commented on what a special night it was, and a great result to boot. I think I'm glad I've a bit of resentment about the lack of coverage; I want my club to be recognised, but I don't want it to turn into Spurs, Chelsea or ManC.

I just can't decide if it's that we're back, that we're back and actually competing or just the result itself that has made last Wednesday continue to feel so special.

I don’t agree with the thesis of the article because for me Championship play offs and League Cup semis are never going to begin to compare with occasions against Juventus and Bayern in the European Cup and Ipswich when we won the League. We’re Aston Villa and I hope have broader horizons!

But I very much enjoyed the read!

I’ve realised that everything is relative. If we win the League, The Champions League, even the FA Cup, all of these are bigger trophies (‘proper trophies’) in comparison to the play off final, but in myself, I cannot imagine the actual feelings being any bigger. The bragging rights & admiration from others might be greater, but in myself, an important win on a big occasion is the heights, it doesn’t have to be the biggest competition, or the biggest achievement, for me to have my best Villa days.
Like a last minute winner in a humdrum game (or a see saw game) can be better than a 5-0 win. The emotions come from contrasts - the rollercoaster.
If a I am totally honest with myself, winning stuff year in year out doesn’t actually appeal to me that much. Winning stuff yes, winning stuff routinely - meh.

Yep, it's the anticipation and excitement about the possibility of winning that's more fun than expectation of the same.

I remember watching a cup game some years back and we inevitably managed to wind up losing to someone we shouldn't have been losing to - the commentator came out with words to the effect of, "Not your night, not your season, not your era".

Or like when Ian Holloway called us a half-arsed club that used to be famous. Twat. I would love Villa to go on a march and win, consistently and famously, in a manner that echoes through the next few decades, just to reaffirm our place in football.
