Travel into city centre after CL matches
« on: October 04, 2024, 07:42:32 PM »
What are the trains or other modes of transport like for getting into New Street or close by after Champions League matches?

I have a ticket for the Bologna game and am coming over from Ireland, staying in the city centre - I can imagine it may be difficult to get whatever number of thousand people on the trains at 10pm or after.

What was it like on Wednesday after the Bayern game?

Do you need to get back into the city centre quickly ? If you don't pop in the Witton Arms for an hour , then get a train from Witton Station when the rush had died down. Think the last one leaves at ten to midnight.

If you go to Aston station it’ll be a bit of a pain in the unorganised ques, but you will get on a train, albeit a packed one and be back in New St in about 10 mins

On Wednesday I walked out of Trinity Road on the final whistle, got the train from Witton and was in the Welly just after 10.30.

Thanks guys. I’ve only ever been for 3pm kickoffs on Saturdays and the queues have been pretty grim at Witton. I thought it would have been worse midweek, but I am suitably reassured! Cheers.

I parked around Salford St, my usual spot, and was back in Curdworth via a drop in Water Orton before 11 on Wednesday, which was most strange. Very little traffic once we got onto Cuckoo Rd.

Are those shuttle buses not running from Grosvenor Road after CL games?

I think a lot of people stayed in the ground later than usual. As Paulue once said, getting out five minutes before everyone else can save an hour.

Caught the shuckle buz on Weds, in town by 10.30.
Just in time to watch various pubs shutting up shop and having to drink in fucking Brewdog.
