I'd go for something like

                Martinez
Nedeljkovic Konsa Torres Digne
       Onana Barkley Tielemans
                Rogers Ramsey
                    Watkins

And bring Bailey, Duran, Maatsen on later.
A bit early for a Christmas tree but needs must. I like the two ball carriers behind Watkins. Play to their strengths. Ramsey with his back to goal isn't working, both he and Rogers can play crucial roles running at the Bayern defence.
A defence well covered by a midfield two or three. I'd be tempted to play with the ball, Tielemans just in front of Onana and Barkley, without it dropping back to a three. Under no circumstances would I play just Onana and Tielemans as our defensive midfielders.
Bayern play with wingers, I think, which may mean Nedeljkovic and Digne not getting as far forward as they usually do. Whether they do or not, our midfield 2 or 3 will need to be ready to do the hard yards of covering the full back positions during the game.

Think we will see Emerys stubborn side and Konsa will again be RB and Carlos asked to man mark Kane

You would drop our most expensive player who has scored 3 in 8 games so far?
He was not great on Sunday - but that could be said about a good few.

It's tempting. If McGinn was fit I wouldn't hesitate, he'd give Ned the type of cover that will likely be required. Onana has had a few average/poor games these last three league games. If it wasn't for his price tag or it was Big Tim walking inside our own penalty area, completely switched off and allowing Ipswich to score, he'd be getting pelters and rightly so. Take his goals away and there's plenty of room for improvement.

Youri needs to be in his ear on Wednesday night for 96 minutes. Bayern is the type of game a very disciplined, no nonsense Barrenechea would have been ideal for.

Not sure it's allowed for home players to sit on the away team's bench.

Its Konsa at right back for me. Theres no way I'd put either of those kids, or a ring rusty Cash in against Musiala.

Take a moment to look at the thread title and let that sink in.

Yep, despite massive reservations about Carlos, throwing Costa or Bogarde into this, would be a huge risk. Difficult decision for Unai.

I think it will 100% be the same back 4 as against Ipswich.  Its a long way from perfect - but we know what their all at there best.

Hopefully, and I mean hopefully, Carlos seems to play better the bigger the game so maybe it will suit him.

A draw would be a ridiculously good result for us

Huh? Why?

Because munich are far superior than us. Obviously anythjng can happen but come on a points a good result for us

They play in a much much less competitive league, and have Vincent Kompany as their manager.  It’s a bit like playing somebody like spurs.  This cap doffing can do one!

I’m all for us bigging up Villa, but I suspect any impartial observer doing a combined 11 would include a majority of Bayern players. That’s not to say it’s a complete mismatch, or we shouldn’t be looking to win, but I’d say they’re stronger overall. If we did get a point it’d be a pretty good result.
