Poppy pins
« on: September 11, 2024, 12:41:51 PM »
Most years I, like I imagine thousands of fans, purchase a pin with the poppy and the club badge. I was surprised and disappointed to find Villa is the only premier league club to not be represented. Indeed, most lower league clubs were also represented.

On contacting the Poppy shop to find out why, I received a response that the paperwork had not been signed off in time to allow manufacture this year.

I know about the new badge but surely this doesn't do us much credit as a club.

I don't bother with a poppy. Then again, I live in France and nobody does. We can and do wear the cornflower though : https://ie.ambafrance.org/The-Bleuet-de-France

What happens if you don't wear a cornflower? Nothing. We have our Rembrance Day service and life goes on. Nobody does cornflower fascism. Unheard of.

Off to the TIL thread, which we know is a thread, with you!

Whether you choose to buy and wear a Poppy or not is your own choice. My point is that it's unfortunate that we don't have the option to purchase a football pin like supporters of practically every club in the country.

Chris Heck is not going to allow potential Aston Villa income be diverted to the British Legion, is he?
