1981 was the year that football and I clicked, and even though I wasn't a Villa supporter I remember Gary Shaw as being the most exciting forward about at the time. A local boy scoring a ton of goals with style. Just the sort of player who makes you love football.

Sad, sad news. Such a gifted player who lit up so many football days for us all.

How terribly sad. Always remember the excitement of the 1980 to 1982 period and he was a huge part of that. He was so personable and had time for everyone when I saw him at events whether at VP or elsewhere.

Probably best to leave the family its privacy until - and hopefully there is not - any formal announcement.
