What about something like this

“Aston Villa like all fans and the wider football community are very sad to hear the news of one of our favourite sons Gary Shaw and his ongoing medical condition, get well Gary Saw”

I am sure someone could write it better, but it’s not difficult, if Shrewsbury can do something…….

How about we stop second guessing and just hope for the best. There may be many reasons why the club hasn't released a statement and we really shouldn't be trying to enforce something when we don't know the facts.

I know you mean well and I understand the sentiment but let's just sit tight and wait for the news. As hard as it is.  :(

Ok, but Shrewsbury Town have seen fit to wish him and his family the best, I really don’t understand why we can’t, the news broke and nothing from the club, announcement about how happy they are we have sold out v Bayern, not even an acknowledgment? Not even a sentence to acknowledge one of ours is in hospital, sorry we could and should have something

I’m not second guessing anything, Gary Shaw is in hospital and AVFC have not committed, nothing to second guess.

Look I'm loathe to defend the club, especially this week, but as others have pointed out there may be reasons that will become clearer with the passage of time.

However I am just about sick of organisations having to make public announcements on the status of this or that, and those that are waiting to harangue them for doing/not doing it in the correct fashion/time etc.

Gary is still employed by Villa on a matchday and is much closer to lots of people at the club, so you would hope and expect that Villa are privy to more information.  We all hope for good news, but in this case the club have to deal with it sensitively - Shrewsbury are passing wishes on to a friend, we are talking about a member of the family.

What ever you think of the ticketing stuff, there is zero chance Villa would be ignoring this because they didn't care, or weren't aware.  There is clearly more to this than we know about that is preventing them from saying anything now.

Problem is we are not talking a very simple get well, or are thoughts and prayers (best wishes) are with you and your family. Only my opinion and if I have upset anyone I apologise.

Can you imagine how good the England team would have been with Cowan's, Mortimer, Morley, Withe and Shaw? Probably would have been World Champions. I can't remember exactly but I'm sure Maradonna said he was the most exciting talent he'd seen after we played Barca in the Super Cup. High praise indeed.

I think Doug tried to sell him to Barca in the bar after that game.

There's no think about it.

Was there also a link to Juventus prior to his injury or am I remembering that incorrectly?

The latest news is that he's breathing unaided but still in a coma.
