Steven Withe, son of Peter posted yesterday  -
I’ve been inundated with messages and calls today about the legend that is Gary Shaw I’ve not answered any messages from anyone and I’m sorry I’ve not responded, but as the power of social media has taken over and the news is out. The whole Withe family love you and we pray 🙏🏻 for a speedy recovery. I rang my Mum & Dad today and they are absolutely devastated to hear this news today. God bless you Gaz UTV 🙏🏻

Nobody really knows anything at the moment but hopefully the club will be providing updates soon.

I'd have thought that the club would at least have posted a get well soon type of message yesterday?

I'm not sure it's wise Jane. They may, or may not, know more and pre-empting a prognosis could just go wrong.

I'm sure they will when the time is right because it's something as club that we do really well.

Giving their best wishes is easy enough to do. Well for the old Villa it was.

Yep, I thought this just as I posted, which doesn't bode well. I don't know what we're about anymore after this week tbh.

Villa know what's happening so let the fans know what's happening. Gary Shaw IS Aston Villa. The club is really playing a blinder this week.

There could be any number of reason's why they haven't said anything as yet. They wouldn't ignore one of our european cup winning side for nothing.

Maybe it’s at the families request right now.

Shrewsbury did a post about him. While smaller than us it's the club that thinks most of him that he played for after us.

The club should be able to say something that is not controversial or breaking any confidences.

The club is aware of the news concerning Gary Shaw and our thoughts are with him and his family a this time.

As simple as Shrewsbury did

Quote
All our thoughts this morning are with our former player Gary Shaw as well as his friends and family.

Gary, who played for #Salop in the early 90s, is currently in a serious condition in hospital.  💙🧡

I'm hoping that no news is good news. A wonderfully talented player & the best finisher I've ever seen. Robbed by injury of 10 years at the highest level. I'm praying for good news

Get well soon Gary.

Same here, John. We don't know if he fell into a coma or was put into one, hopefully the latter.

There is plenty to have a go at the back office stuff at VP at the moment - one thing they have always done superbly well is looking after their own and with this in mind there must of been a request to not announce anything in public.

Either by family or (with everything crossed) they may know that this is very serious and they may have to announce something a lot worse (fuck me i hope not)
