Our forwards haven't been at this in the first couple of games. Start with a good tempo here like at West Ham and I think we will crucify these. Their squad looks very weak. Oliver Skipp, their big signing!

I was watching that Aston Villa the Movie thing on youtube the other day.

It's a fucking difficult watch at times.

Anyway, I know it was pre NSWE and not the real turning point, which was losing against Fulham, but that Leicester match where we were doing really well, then Sherwood made some inexplicable subs and they won. That struck me as a turning point.

If, at the point of those subs, you'd have said "one of these sides is going to win the league this season, which one?" I would have put everything on us.

Then what happened happened.

Leicester finished the previous season with seven wins one draw and one defeat. Going into the game unbeaten in eight.

I’d have backed them every time.

Kante Mahrez and Vardy. Bloody hell even Drinkwater was miles better than anything we had. Robert Huth or Micah Richards?  Kasper Schmeichel or Guzan?

The only way I’d have ever backed us is if I’d never watched either team before.

We have a pretty shit record against them, too. They're the only Midlands team to have played us more than a handful of times that has a winning record against us. The late nineties/early noughties against their bunch of thugs were a nightmare.

Despite ending the season well and starting the next one well, its a bit disingenuous from anyone to hint that when they beat us you’d of backed them to win the league. No one was backing Kante, Mahrez etc to do anything particularly, i doubt many knew who they were or what they could do, Vardy was only really getting noticed. We played them away when, mid to late September and were cruising at 2-0, before Tactics Tim lost the plot.

The question was who I’d have backed at 2-0 to win the league, us or them. Knowing how utterly crap we were and how much Benteke had carried us for the previous three seasons I’d have picked them.

I wasn’t convinced they’d win the league until about February time.

When they twatted Man City away I thought they'd win the league, always thought they'd collapse before that.

They had that prick O'Neill in charge. He didn't coach or do tactics as James Collins recently opined, when discussing his signing for Villa the same week as Richard Dunne.

Their new boss didn't speak to them until the day before their debut. When "Dunney" asked the prick what sort of defensive shape they should take for set-pieces in the first game, the response was "I signed the pair of you cvnts to head it so stand in the six yard box and fucking head it".
