League Cup 2024/25 R4 Crystal Palace(H)
« on: August 25, 2024, 05:13:21 PM »
The draw for the 3rd round is this Wednesday evening after the 2nd round games finish.
We will play on Wednesday 25th September (so between European Cup games 1 and 2 the previous and following midweeks).

https://www.efl.com/competitions/carabao-cup/

OK we would prefer to win one of the other 3 things we are in but it will be 50 years since The Grader scored on the rebound.

We could potentially have 4 home games in 10 days depending on the draws this week.

Would love to win this (well anything really), buy can't see it being high on our list of priorities.

You never know, couple of favourable draws and before you now it, you're in the Quarters.

We will play a weakened team and go out in the 3rd/4th round.

I havent got enough points to get away league tickets for me and my lad, apart from the odd random ones that come up. So Id be happy with a winnable away game, e.g. anyone across the divisions apart from Man City.

The year we reached the final we played weakened teams until the semis but they were good enough to beat other even more weakened teams (thinking Wolves and Liverpool). Even though I get annoyed when it seems like we chuck this competition, I can sort of understand the reasoning that pretty much everyone does and our reserves should be better than most other teams.

Probably.  Then again, a complete second XI is almost certainly a better team than the one that got to the final four years ago.

Have they confirmed seeding yet? We can't draw a Europa League team but can we draw a Champions League team or will all European teams be kept apart?

Answered my own question by Google.

Seems like Champions League and Europa League teams will be seeded, but Conference League won't be so we can still get Chelsea.

Chelsea or Newcastle the teams to avoid, then.

With the current squad (when fit) we can put out a pretty decent league cup team. We need to try and win this.
