I would very much argue that the place next to Rice isn't nailed down at all and that Onana could fill it just as much as any other England player we have.

I'd even go as far as to say that he's exactly the sort of player England need there, just like he was for us.

In other international news Le Normand was sent off for Spain after twenty minutes, and Torres still watched the whole match from the bench.

So although he's back in the squad, it doesn't seem like he's going to be appearing much for the foreseeable.

Our most vital player, imo, played about 30 mins in 6 games at the Euros despite Kane being about 400 years old. Even Toney was preferred ahead of him.

We don't value Villa players the same way as others do. Same as any clubs fans with their players tbf.

Tough on him but ideal for us. If we're a club where players will get the international call up, it's an added attraction for potential transfers, but we aren't responsible for them not playing, and they can't get injured on the bench.

Still doesn't apply to Onana, he'd be perfect alongside Rice and better than any other player England have for that specific position.

Now for those who are prepared to discuss .
John McGinn, Tielemans and Onana would all get into the England squad and I would say 2 of the 3 are potential England starters if they were English.

McGinn is playing tonight Vs Portugal and another great test for him.
When on form McGinn is up there with the best midfielders from Britain if not the best in Premier league excluding overseas players.

Not one of them would start for England and I am not sure 2 of them would even make the squad.

McGinn better than Gallagher
Onana and Tielemans are better than Mainoo

Rice only one ahead or on par but then can you trust him not to kick ball away for a booking !

Let's see how Belgian midfield/ Villa midfield gets on against France tonight

Think they would do better than an English midfield
