Bogarde wasn't on the bench yesterday either, was he?

No Bogarde,  No Olsen No Dendocker,
The Juventus exchange players Barrenechea, Iling Junior also did not make the bench v West Ham

Duran‘s goal involved 3 subs:

Pau to Maatsen to JJ to Duran and into the back of the net.

Not convinced by this thread tbh.

The role of subs and when subs are used are a major discussion point these days.
It’s a squad game and now we have a lot of depth.
Ok so if don’t want to join such a discussion why not say nothing that be negative and critical.
Substitutes know as finishers are actually something that are very vital as seen in the Euros.
The winning goal for Spain was scored by a sub and saw Watkins score in the Semi he was a sub.
And the impact of subs means that even if not starting then it’s still crucial

Up the Villa!

We seem to score a lot of goals off the bench under Emery.

Hookey I always like your posts and take on board but to be fair I bump all sorts of threads not just mine!
If I think something is relevant it gets the bump . To me it’s straightforward.
I could have started numerous threads for this exciting season but have scaled back!

I only want to get discussion and talking points going on essentials of this exciting new season!
But ok I give consideration on 24hrs as a compromise or something perhaps? But it depends on relevancy I really don’t mean to annoy you in any manner

I mean Tielemans not being discussed all summer on his thread I found hard to take!

And all of them one-touch.  Beautiful.

To me they will always be substitutes.
Rugby now refers to them as finishers previously replacements. Interestingly I think Unai referred to them as impact players.

15 subs used so far this season.
Emery used quota of subs 5 in each game.
Against West Ham sub Duran scored again with Barkley and Ramsey playing telling part in the second goal.
It was also noted that Ramsey  came on for Bailey and then Ramsey was subbed himself!

Subs Barkley to Duran for the winner!
Emery really used subs superbly today.
