I might be wrong but wasn't Diaby the only new face against Newcastle in the starting line-up last year?

Yeah and how did that result end 😉

We ended the season fourth despite people stating it was Tottenham place for most of the season.

That wasnt the question 😂

I’ll answer your question. We lost. Then we ended the season fourth despite people stating it was Tottenham’s place for most of the season.

I can guarantee If we lose to West Ham on Saturday this will be the standard message on the post match

Depends on the nature of the loss though doesnt it. If we lost 7-0 for example then you will get negative reactions

I personally wont be suprised if we lose this one. We dont have a great record there and their manager had the better of unai last time they met.

Tough game

Onana's bloody colossal isn't he, about time we had a bit more height in the team.

But as i have reported previously my Everton ST supporting mate says

1) He is not very good in the air for someone who is 6'5"
2) When he does head it its like his head is a 50p piece as it goes everywhere

He says what we will like is his telescopic legs that seem to come out of nowhere to retrieve the ball and surprisingly his extensive passing range, especially out to either flank

My Everton-supporting best mate says he's great in the air. I guess it's the same with us, take two fans and you'll get two different opinions. The stats seem to back up that he's good in the air though.

Thank you - i would add which consisted of a host of new players helping us achieve 4th =)

Spurs were not far off from us. Lucky for us there wasnt another 4-5 games as we were on a terrible run. I think thats why we have bought a lot in to not see a repeat with a fatigue as that was the reason for our poor form towards the end of the season

So lucky we played for 38 games which happens to be the length of the league? Strange as some people had handed the 4th place to Spurs in March  which was game week 28. So we were lucky that the season wasn't 28 games in length. But then we were lucky they had some injuries early on in the season as well if I remember correctly as our injuries didn't count, well from some people.

Lucky Villa it seems.

If you actually read what i wrote it was about our form being so bad towards thweend of the season and we only finished a few points ahead of them.

Cool that you also ignored the end part of the post to to make your own conclusion up too 😂

Spurs won 2 and lost 5 of their last 7. Those 2 were against Burnley and Sheffield United.

We won 2, drew 3 and lost 2 of our last 7. Those 7 games, also included 4 in Europe. So despite our squad being smaller, despite playing more games, we took more points and beat higher quality opposition (Arsenal and Bournemouth).

In the mythical 43 game season, assuming our players don't give up after 37 because the job is complete, I'm unsure why Spurs would have cantered past us. We're a better side, with a better manager. We finished above them with a game to spare.

The thing is the original comment was made after we lost 4-0 to them so the poster seems obsessed with bringing that post up. Only he knows why.

It turned out chelsea were more of a threat than spurs in end. I think we would have blown it if there were more games. Thank god we qualified before the final game thats for sure!

Isn't the point that if our form was bad, their form was worse. We couldn't finish 3rd, our form only needed to be superior to Tottenham's.

Tottenham's form was woeful, and they looked completely blown out despite playing less than alomost everyone else in the division, and it was exactly how I'd said it would go earlier in the season based on the way they played.

I mean aftes that 4-0 result though i really did think it was done at that point.

It was the lowest point of the season for me. Thankfully we seen it through. Want to look forward now and not look back. Hopefully the poster can do the same.

Moving on to saturdays game. We started the season horribly last season i am pretty sure unai would have learned alot about that newcastle game.  Be great to start 1st game of season with a away win. Wont be easy though

I wouldn't read too much into that final game, there was clearly an enormous sense of relief and as close to a downing of tools as Emery would ever allow.

The Palace game was the best day out I’ve had in a long time.

We didn't have many low points, so it's understandable.

I dont see how playing like a dog chasing a car, with Europe on top, will benefit them. Hopefully they're worse than last year.
