Every chance that by the end of this season he'll be averaging playing in fewer than half our league games since he joined.

As has Kamara….

Presumably the  FIFA compensation will cover the wages of a loan player who we will will inevitably have to sign to repair him next season.

Is it worth merging this thread with the Celebrity Fans one?  Poor bugger has watched more of our games than he's played in
It's at least one of these for the last 3 seasons for us isn't it?

Correct - in 2023-24 two in one week at the start the season, Mings and Buendia. Then February 2024 it was Kamara with an ACL. Kamara again in January 2026 with a PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) injury. Now Onana with an ACL according to reports. Lindelof maybe called upon more in the DM position He was great in the latter part of last season. However,  what terrible luck!

Didn't Onana also do his ACL previously for us as well?

No. Mostly hamstring or muscle tears. ACL is Mings, Buendia and Kamara twice, although his were two different ACL type injuries.

Let’s be honest, for £50 m this has been a disastrous signing. Good when fit and playing but any physicality and he’s crocked. Nobody is going to take him off our hands for at least 12 months if at all.

We’re quite the connoisseurs when it comes to ACL injuries.

Onana’s wages get covered and we’ll remove his book value from the European squad so as far as SCR is concerned we have some flexibility to add a loan and/or use the book value deficit to make an addition. Doesn’t mean it’s not a blow in a summer when we’re up against it though.

He's over half but not by a significant amount.

How many ACL injuries is that in the last three and bit seasons? I think 4 but it could be 5.

Technically 4, one of the Kamara ones was his PCL. It's still a horrible run of injuries though.

Just devastated for him. I’m not having any of this he’s made of glass bollocks. This is a serious injury and terrible bad luck. He’s going to be hard to replace by way of what we can spend to bring in a replacement. Can we not fucking get a bit of luck with injuries on top of the other shit we are forced to deal with?

Really awful news, this. He showed his worth in the second half of the season, and is clearly a great character to have in the team. Hope he's back as soon as possible
