That’s quite some effort managing to try and deflect blame for the first onto Onana. The pass to Torres was a perfectly fine option, Emi just cocked it up.

Nonsense. Watch again. See the acres of space to his right and he stands there like a fucking statue. Kamara would have drifted into the space but then Kamara is one of the first names to go on the team sheet.  Of course Martinez is to blame but having options, better options, shouldn't be dismissed.

I think Onana has been pretty good everytime he played for us.  Sometime excellent.  The only thing I would say is he's a bit injury prone and I would like to see him use his strength a bit more.

However - I think he's been a good signing and could end up being a great one.  Hes only just turned 24.

He's been anonymous for many of the games he's been fit to play!

Still, it's fascinating how he polarises people's opinion on here more than anyone since Alan Wright Wright Wright.

It's as if people have already made their minds up and are then finding snippets of games to prove their point.

Played well, again.

He did, but I have noticed a tendency for his passes to go a bit astray as his legs tire in games.

The bit where got back and snuffed out a Salah attack in the first half was absolute class. Again though he’s a player who some seem to have made their mind up on, and look for anything to have a go at him about. Prime example yesterday, having a go at him for being soft when he absolutely smashed into that advertising board.

Forget that, what about his effort to close down Gravenberch for the second goal?

Opinion surrounding him on this forum is seemingly divided, fair enough. But if you asked the Everton supporters if they’ve missed him based on what they’ve seen of him in a Villa shirt , I’d say it would be a no.

I don't think we're divided, more a case of how he performed each game and where he fits in. Let's face it we haven't seen much of him, not his fault, neither was his fee and he's trying to break in to one of the best central midfields in the league. I think pretty much everybody thinks he looks far better since his return this season.

I'd be in the camp that Onana has been in the main a complete flop. Did play very well v Man City, mind. But it's rare enough supporters claim they still miss a former player. Most on here didn't want Grealish back for example, or Luiz. He would still make that Everton midfield ahead of likes of Gueye
