The only reason it sprang to mind is that I'm currently reading the Balagué book, and it says sometimes the communications on socials is guided by the management group when they want to set a tone. You're right, this wouldn't be one.

Balague said Emery's spoken English is better than he portrays to the media. 

If true, that's next level mind-gaming.  Imagine translating a question, answering it in your second language whilst deliberately inserting some grammatical errors to avoid being asked tough questions.
