When we signed him I said it was to make sure Newcastle never take the piss again, well today underlined that, that was his midfield and everyone else could fuck off.
I was thinking it today - he is a level up from Dougie - he has a high ceiling if he can just stay fit.

That said I would like us to get another midfielder in that is physical and stays fit, even if they are not quite at Kamara or Onana levels.   Maybe Bogarde is that player.

I'm willing to give him and Hemmings a chance to be exactly that. The issue is that the extra insurance we'd like to have if they're struggling is Barkley and he can't stay fit.

Onana was so good today and will become a £100 million pound player.

Unai gave us a little hint that Hemmings might play v Salzburg. At least that’s the way I heard it.

Also, until his injury this season, Unai was very deliberately playing Barkley as a 10, and not at 6/8.

I'm guessing that with no Kamara and McGinn and wanting to protect Onana and Tielemans that could easily change back though.

It could have just been because we had fewer options at 10, so Barkley supported that role. Now we have fewer options at 6/8, he goes back to supporting that role.

One of those ones we'd probably love if he played for us.

Glad he doesn't, though.

Another reason why im not writing Guessand off just yet. Alot of players just seem to take time to settle properly into Unai's ways. Go back a few pages and apparantly Everton had mugged us off.

He is fucking brilliant.

Yep, and Emery clearly sees something he likes in Guessand which is why he's played as much as he has this season.
