Why do we only thank and wish well certain players who leave and don't bother with others? Dobbin was no Tiele sure, but a lack of acknowledgement suggests beef.

yes but he barely played so it might come across as sarky  ;D

Excellent point!

This week gets worse and worse. Absolutely heartbroken. Farewell Dobbs, always a legend, forever in our hearts.

Now that's sarky!

Did we thank Barrenechea? Because like him Dobbin was just a makeweight in some transfer shenanigans.

From which, unlike Villa, Everton got a usable Premier League player in Tim

Whenever I have stuck my nose in the Everton forum, they're always slagging him off.

Usable for Everton over the last couple of years as a sub or starter who is the first to be replaced isn’t getting much game time in our team

Yes, but Everton fans love a moan. Never known a more one-eyed set of supporters.

A lot of people, Villans and Toffees alike, like to say Villa and Everton are pretty similar clubs. And they’re kind of right, based on historical success and everything.

But as fanbases go, we are nowhere near each other. They are to Liverpool what Blues are to us.

They have that same chip on the shoulder, the jealous hatred for their bigger, more illustrious neighbour, and the same bitterness over it never being them.

I think there is a subtle difference though between Everton 9 League Titles, 5 FA Cups and 1 Cup Winners Cup vs Blues 2 League Cups though? That subtle difference being a gigantic fucking chasm.

I’ve worked with loads of Evertonians down the years and whilst they can be bitter it’s not even in the same hallucinatory drug induced league as the Noses. For a start they have a club with a bit of history of winning stuff even if it was a while ago.

Yes, there is a chasm in terms of achievement, but I was specifically talking about the fanbase...

And yes, there are many good fans and many dickheads, like all clubs. But that much more successful neighbour influences their identity as a fan base, and it creeps into everything. That's why we are different to them, because we are the top dogs and don't have that complex.

I didn't say Everton are the same as Blues in achievement, and Everton fans are exactly the same as Birmingham fans.  ;D

Everton always used to be a lot like us but since they went to shite (I mean, what kind of big club can go without a trophy since the mid-nineties?) and Liverpool got back winning things they've achieved almost Small Heathian levels of bitterness.
