Are there no kids socks on sale?

Check the size guide. It's looks like there is nibseoarstuiinnfrin adult to child kits. My lad is a 2 so fine for XS (I think) which is size 12-2.5.

Just with regards to patches etc. I have chased various people at the Villa this morning and asked about the patches etc.

The smaller Champs League patch for the kids' shirts is out of stock everywhere, however, if you purchase a shirt from either the Villa or JD you can take it to the club when they are back in stock and they will print them for you.

You will just need to :

a/ buy a genuine shirt,
b/ buy it from either the Villa or JD Sports
c/ provide the receipt when you go
d/ pay for the print at the Villa store.

Sorry bought my lad a shirt yesterday from JS which he was proudly wearing it at Brum airport today and got a few encouraging comments from staff.

What is the patch? It had the AV150 on the back just below the neck

Just watching the Villa on Tour video about the new kit and at the end he says he'll reveiw the away and 3rd jerseys when they come out too, and then says something like an inside tip about the 3rd is that John McGinn will love it.

Is it.......tartan?

We bought my lad (then 3.5 years old) a 4-5 year old kit for Christmas 2022. The shirt is now a perfect fit as he is slightly small for his age. The shorts will be probably fit him when he is finishing junior school. It's like Billy Garratty reincarnated.

Dark Blue? Green and white stripes? A kilt instead of shorts?

Have any Scottish teams ever done that? Seems a great marketing opportunity, as long as they guard against Paul Scholes moments...

On the socks, with so many footballers cutting holes in the back, surely it's only a matter of time before they start bringing some out with ready made holes in? Can market it with science-y shit about pressure on the calves and all that jazz. Bound to happen. 2 inch shin pads still baffle me.

There is a brilliant interview on the Claret & Blue podcast with Mat Kendrick. He interviews Rob Warner who goes through in detail what it takes to launch a kit. A Villa fan who used to work at Adidas gives great perspective of the current deal and how it might evolve. Tells some really good stories too about his time in designing kits for other clubs/nations.

I listened to this at work the other day. It was quite interesting.

In particular what he was saying about the fake tops. Apparently they use chemicals they’re not allowed to use in the real things (don’t know if that’s a safety or quality thing) and, at the end of the day, it’s organised crime and the proceeds of which will support all manner of nasty activities.

West Ham are selling adults shirts without the main sponsor on. What’s stopping us from doing it?

Nothing really, but it does come with an oncost. Every top has to then have two versions to stock, display, and manage, etc. There may be kickback from the sponsor who may not feel the value is there unless a certain percentage sold have their branding on.

You'd have to weigh it up against how many extra you would have to sell to make it all worthwhile, which at this point would be entirely theoretical.

I mean, how many people don't buy, but would if it had no sponsor? And how many people just say that and won't really buy a shirt even if offered the option?

Commercially, I'd say it's probably more effective and less risky to wait and get a new sponsor without the negative connotations than it is to go to all that effort for an unknown additional number of sales.

Probably, although West Ham and Celtic have both been doing it for years and have betting sponsors. Might be worth dropping a line to the new Commercial guy (came from Celtic a few months ago) to see if it's possible in the future.
