Luke were a great kit manufacturer for a club that didn't expect to sell any kits outside their immediate fanbase.

They're really not what we need now.
We were talking about the designs rather than the company size / distribution model / global reach etc.
Luke designs piss all over adidas but obviously they don't have the power of a leading global business

How cna you possible say that? You have neer seen a single Villa kit produced by Adidas. You can say that you don't expect much but that's absolutely not the same thing as the Luke one 'pissing all over it'.

He's just trolling. Adidas made more iconic kits throughout the early 90's than Luke could ever dream of designing.

I think a lot of the Luke warmth of feeling is down to what happened that season. If we’d worn that kit the season we went down, it wouldn’t be half as popular I think.

As someone who typically buys the tops, I didn’t buy a single Luke shirt.

Because like the training gear it will be generic adidas templates. Luke was unique and resonated with our club at the time of us turning the tide back around .

Ffs end of the day it’s a shirt. Will be claret and blue and by one of the biggest sports companies on the planet compared to a sports company that is closing shit down and is basically unknown. Tbh these days I wear my villa shirts to do the gardening in or round the house. So long as we have a world class player in the shirt couldn’t give a fuck. Oh and if Addidas give us a fucktonne of cash as well.

Didn't resonate with me. Even when we got promoted again, a part of me couldn't celebrate. Yes, we're back in the top flight, but we've done it with shameful sleeves. You could sense that some of the players felt the same way, that's why quite a few left the club that summer, never to return.

Even Steve Bruce couldn’t stomach it for a full season and left.

Not for us though, so they don't count.

I don't think so. For me, it's the quality of the shirt and it has the right shade of claret. A firend of mine has one and it still looks mint.

I doubt anyone will have a warm feeling about last year's Castore effort, just because we finished 4th and got CL football in it.

At least the Castore kit had blue sleeves. Even Macron got that right.

Also true. And Steve Bruce can stomach a lot.
