A fitting tribute. I was talking to my Dad about Chico last night because he knew him quite well from working with the club in the 70s. He said what a great bloke Chico was.

A great read, Dave. Chico was the epitome of that crazy time in our history in the early 70s....swashbuckling in his style of play and his demeanour.

I had long blond hair as a ten year old kid back in 1970 and one day I was kicking a ball around with my brother in a park in Bournville wearing my Villa shirt and a couple of blokes walking by started chanting Cheee-co - o-o-o….. Cheee-co-o-o-o-o-o ... Made me feel on top of the world. Can't imagine how it must have felt with Holte in full voice.

Excellent, my dad started taking me down when Chico started under the Doc and players like him are the foundation of my love for the club. I didn’t realise though that he had played for Chelsea. These were fabulous days to be a Villa fan I I remember them fondly

Same here. I guess when you’re a kid you don’t know or care about the players’ associations. You just care that they are wearing claret and blue at that moment and that’s enough. RIP Chico.
