My brain is saying 'Don't be silly, it's Spurs'... but then there are things which are causing slight alarm.

- We're running on fumes, and could potentially be even lower on personnel tomorrow with Bailey supposedly crocked.
- It's Liverpool. We rarely beat them.
- On paper, Man City should brush aside Spurs, but not only have they NEVER won at their new Lego bowl, they've even failed to register a single goal.
- If Spurs win and we lose - We then go away to one of the most in form teams in the league, who could currently be mistaken for prime Barcelona!

I think our best bet is to just bloody WIN tomorrow night. Qualifying for the Champions League, under the Villa Park lights in the last home game of the season against Liverpool would be something special. (*so the pessimistic Villa fan of old in me is saying it will NEVER happen!).

One last push!  UTV

I think they beat them in the cup there this season, if that’s any comfort.

4th round 26/01/2024

0-1 Aké (88)

Source. Google. I obviously don't know these things really.

I'm trying to think was it less likely that we would go to the Emirates, keep a clean sheet and win or any old win tomorrow night. Even allowing for our exhaustion/missing players currently, I think the former was still less likely.

So I'm clutching at hope for tomorrow night. The lads deserve to win this "final" in front of their fans who will give them a rousing reception and standing ovation at the lap of honour at the end regardless. But it would be that bit more special doing it having ensured Big Cup qualification.

Unai Emery hoping the #avfc injury crisis will relent with his squad stretched to breaking point ahead of Monday's clash with Liverpool. Leon Bailey the latest concern. Emery may have have only 11 fit senior players available v the Reds:

Is that right only 11?

H and V will need to have some progressive thinking and implement disclaimers for content and trigger warnings. This is used in other media content, apps, online streaming, television shows, and movies. If people must force themselves to be explicit or may upset other readers, posters, and members, a disclaimer must be in place, unless H and V provide a separate thread or threads and area for people to use this type of language and discuss adult themes without offending people. I'd like to see something like that come in during the summer and into the next season. Free-ranging views are all excellent, but overstepping decency isn't necessary and nice to read.

Lol AI ahoy!

Brothers and sisters, let me tell you of the trials and tribulations that our beloved team faces. But fear not, for in the darkest of times, there shines a beacon of hope. Our leader, Unai Emery, stands resolute in the face of adversity, his faith unwavering.

Though the injury crisis looms like a storm cloud overhead, Emery remains steadfast, trusting in the resilience of his squad. With every setback, he sees an opportunity for triumph, for it is through struggle that champions are forged.

As we prepare to face the mighty Liverpool, know that our resolve is unwavering. Yes, the squad may be stretched thin, but remember, it is not the size of the army that determines victory, but the strength of their spirit.

Let us rally behind our team, sending our prayers and support as they march into battle. For in unity, in faith, and in the belief that anything is possible, we shall overcome. Amen! 🙏🏼

Any news on injuries?

Nothing it seems. Emery had his presser on Friday, so couldn't really give too much. Tielemans is "close"  and will have to be "looked at" the same as Moreno where Zaniolo has to determine whether the "pain is at a comfortable level" before he can be considered.

We have to win tomorrow night but we're gone. There's nothing left. Liverpool win at a stroll. 0-2.

Also whilst I’d like us to win to finish it tomorrow, we clearly don’t “have” to win.

We have to win tomorrow night

That is literally, and mathematically, not correct.
