Two games left- if we cant get point in last two and miss out on CL im gonna be furious

As we missed out on a trophy and CL. People can say its still be a good good season but it really wouldnt be if that happened.

Yes it would. Regardless of your fury.

5th feels like a failure now with all things considered as its in our own hands and we would have blown it

We’ve got a points total that may or may not be good enough for 4th place. We were looking more likely to be in a relegation battle about 18 months ago. Get some perspective. What might feel like a failure to you and others with an overly negative viewpoint, isn’t a failure in reality.

You are a total bore

Thanks for the totally idiotic post that adds nothing to the conversation

I think what he means is that you do have a tendency to pop up on every thread with the same negativity. At least you are consistent I suppose.

It will be a good season even if we only finish 5th. Must be the first time this century we've finished so high? For what it's worth I'm confident of 4th anyway.

Richard regardless what he meant there is a level of respect to other posters whether you agree with them or not.  All i am just saying that it does appear to be a failure if we got 5th and not CL. Especially when all we have needed was a point in last 3 games.  This is our best ever chance of getting CL. If we dont get this year be tougher next year. as i expect chelsea and Newcastle to be alot better. No one wants europa now.

If the circumstances were different and we were not 7 points clear of spurs then it wouldnt be deemed a failure.

Just for the record as well i dont just pop up to be negative thats not true ive been posting some positive and negative posts

And i havent been popping up being negative

I think we have to sit back and put things into perspective. Yes, it would be disappointing if we finished 5th (which we won’t) but what a job this coach and the players have done. Finish 4th and we’ll need some improvements which won’t be cheap.

I dont see how failing to secure CL being 7 points clear from 5th wont be deemed a failure. We have literally needed ONE point from our last 3.

Anyway its all if and buts hopefully it wont come to this negative scenerio and we smash liverpool. 😁

It’s fairly easy to see, if you want to see it. 67 points from 36 games. Scoring more than 2 goals per game. Beating the top 2, 3 out of the 4 times we’ve played them.

If you think there’s any way the season as a whole can be viewed as a failure, supporting Villa over the past however many years must have been like a living nightmare.

I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get Champions League, but again, perspective.

4 points from the last 4 was really the thing to look at. Not getting that, at a time Spurs were busy losing four in a row to hand us every chance, would be genuinely gutting if it leads to missing out. But it's hard not to factor in the circumstances here - I've never seen a Villa team look more tired, which a couple of logic hops means I've never seen a Villa team that's given more.

Everyone - including the commentators last night - seems to be assuming we've basically got 4th spot wrapped up.

Stop being so confident FFS! The only acceptable attitude is to assume that everything is going to go catastrophically wrong. Anything else and the gods of hubris will make a point of singling us out and rogering us brutally with a massive dildo in the shape of Gary fucking Lineker's grinning face.

I think we will do it just but im gonna be devastated if we miss out on our poor form.

This is the problem i would have taken 5th at start of season but after sucha  fantastic first  half (where some were even saying we could win totle whoch i never felt we were there yet) the second hald has generally been poor. Only one really impressive win in PL against a good side (arsenal) we lost to Newcastle spurs united city and almost lost to chelsea.

Hasnt been a good 2nd half of season for me but we can see injuries and fatigue are playing a role here.  Kamara seems to be the biggest miss

Liverpool are one of those opponents where you need a secure midfield structure to get a result. We simply don't currently.

Feels like one of those games where SJM and Luiz will again have endless ground to cover, they'll do an o.k job of that first half but then tire and Alexis MacAlister will have free reign of VP in last half hour to ping balls up to their forwards.

A high line against them isn't a very good idea either so if we're playing a back 5 they will surely drop deeper.

In the run scenario a draw/defeat dosen't change a huge amount unless we lose this game by 3 or 4.

Let's get in with that midblock. Everyone hates the midblock. Central midfield needs to be seriously fucking disciplined and not overcommit, while we'll need someone up front to whom the ball can stick a bit.

Exactly who the hell that would be I do not know.

Burnley will beat Spurs for the most anti-climatic end to the season currently on offer.

Not true, as were this to happen, I would - and this is no exaggeration - climax.
