GBBlue
Aston Villa biggest cheats on the planet. So let me get this right a goalkeeper in a shootout can be as unsportsmanlike as they want unless a ref has the guts to show a straight red (they wont)

Martinez should have got a least 2 yellow cards in that shootout. Not to mention being off his line and then you have the phatom handball in extra time which apparently hit Cash’s chest.

Nah I am not having it.
Refs bottling it again, Cash swept the ball away clearly with his hand, Martinez should have been sent off, Watkins elbow on that defenders head (did you see the lump on his head) that was a red card too, the smug effers will win it and the refs have been 12th man especially in this game
That is so pleasing to upset a complete and utter wanker

Can I have a puff of whatever GBBlue has been smoking.

Probably supplied by T.Brady c/o the Sty

I understand a lot of it is about getting in the zone and there isn’t a single goalie on the planet I’d prefer to have in a shoot out but…..deep down do you wish he’d turn it down a notch?

I think he could probably read the room (referee) a bit better.
Oh please feck off

Grow up. If he'd been sent off you'd all be after his blood. The ref was a complete bell end and was looking to send someone off all night. He pushed it right to the edge and only for some stupid rule nobody knew about, he stayed on.

Another day, another ref, he can do what he likes.

I'm not going to demand we withdraw but we really did not deserve that. Credit to Lille.

'The Mighty Reds YNWA' and Spam both beaten tonight.

We're the last English team in Europe.

Don't expect Fleet Street's finest or Talkshite's assorted  tossers to notice.

How very true

Full penalty shoot-out for anyone who missed it:

Two things there.

Emi:Ref didn't seem to show him the yellow after the chat with Luiz, and he was asking for the second ball which the Lille player booted as hard as he could AT Emi. No cards from the ref for that though it seems.

Watkins: Very lucky to score as his standing legs slips from underneath him. We have seen those balloon over then that happens.

I was looking away for some of them I have to admit - too much for me.

Says in the Guardian match report that Lille are unbeaten in their last 15 home matches - their last home defeat was against Reims in September - but before that they also had a 22 match unbeaten run.

16 now then - given they won 2-1.

Lille were a really good side, we won't face any better. It's our trophy to lose.

Agree. We didn't play well but the overall result is all that matters.
I honestly think we have knocked out the best team (apart from us) left in the competition. Lille are a very good side.

I agree on the didn’t deserve it but Lille did not make the most of an abject performance by us.

It’s rare that you can have that many players so off it and still get a win, Cash Diaby Luiz McGinn none above 4 out of 10.

In terms of penalty shoot outs, that is right up there with that Peace Cup victory.

Fair point. Not long before Cash scored the commentators were saying how it was a big night for Lille and they only had to hold on for a few more minutes. And they didn't. And it wasn't even like we suddenly started playing like we did against Arsenal.

Job done. EMI can be embarrassing with his theatrics but we scored more penalties. So happy. Let’s win this now!
