Yesterday reminded me of the Wolves horror show in Oct 21, thankfully thanks to us having at the moment probably the best striker in the league, it didn't turnout quite so badly, nevertheless a needless 2 points dropped against a team in very poor form and with their best player on the bench. The big plus I thought was Rogers, a beautifully taken goal and seems to be improving with every match.

I was thinking yesterday after their third goal that whist it is great to have a Rolls-Royce, sometimes you need a battered old  Land Rover to complete the journey when the going gets tough.

I think what we were crying out for was a change to get someone onto the right who was going to overlap, Konsa was never going to so that making it easy for them to double up on Bailey.

Momentum can be a strange thing in games. They had none and then they score from a scuffed cross that leads to an airshot fluke and suddenly they have it. And so for only the second time this season we drop points from a winning position.

Fair play to DorsetVilla (sic?) and all the other south-coasters who regularly make the trek up to Villa Park of a weekend.

Trains yesterday were shit, I was about to give-up/give away my ticket yesterday morning when I saw a host of cancellations but decided to persevere. There was a "land slip" near one station meaning north and southbound tracks had to share the same line.
I counted 12 different train/tube changes and a taxi for my return trip yesterday.

I took my seat as Luiz wasted a free-kick on the 18th minute mark, only getting into New Street in time for a train headed to Walsall at 3pm. Had my pick of seats, one of those moments in life where you're feeling frantic but everyone around you seems subdued. At least there was little human traffic upon alighting at Witton.

Legged it up Witton Lane but I hadn't missed much by the sounds of it. Great view in the Upper Holte for our 2nd and 3rd goals but was a bit dazed and confused by the end and stayed seated til 5pm. Met Olof's Beard for a drink near New Street for an hour or so. Got back ho(m)ve at 01.30am.

Think I'll leave my VP record this season as it is (wins over Palace, Wham and Arsenal and the draw yesterday - just realising that they're all London clubs) and hopefully come back after the summer, but probably have to make it an overnight trip. Maybe I should take myself off the season-ticket waiting-list...

One disappointing aspect of our play yesterday was the lack of any inventiveness with our corner kicks. We had 11 in all, and pretty much all of them seemed to be just floated into the 6 yard box, giving catching practice to their keeper. That's not like us.

Although Dorset Villa I've recently moved to West Wales. About the same distance but a bit longer journey. I'm very another season ticket holder near me so we travel up together most games. I was on my own yesterday but still meet the Bournemouth Lions in the Villa Tavern. Four cars up from Bournemouth yesterday. My solo journey home was not enjoyable after that 9 minute madness. Still gutted now. Need a response on Thursday...UTV

The other thing we are starting to find out is which players can play under top end pressure at the business end of the season. It's new territory for them all. (Bar Martinez) .

This probably the most important point and is also hinted at by Watkins with his comment about acting like a big team. We have a few out although it was a strong 1st eleven yesterday, and I’d argue Kamara is the only one we really miss and can’t replace.

Emery really needs all his man-management skills to get the squad over the line and keep their self-belief in the coming weeks.

Liverpool shit their pants agai st Sheffield United for a big chunk. It happens, especially in April. We have to find a way, like Luton. We will. Believe.

Are you still confident of top 4 Ads? I think that 9 minutes yesterday  will be a defining moment in our season which is a shame considering how brilliant it's been. I'm just trying to imagine a close second leg in Europe away in Lille..

Second time? Don’t be silly Ped, haven’t you been reading? We do it all the time!

As disappointing as the final result was given where we were in the game it’s also important to appreciate we are still in a very good position to secure 5th at least and are doing all this while in the QF of a European competition, all while our squad is significantly depleted. It’s still one hell of an achievement. It’s stretching us massively and at times it really shows.

It’s our job to get behind the team.
Unai is working miracles with the resources available.
We have to be right behind them to help them over the line.
I appreciate it’s difficult when you experience something like yesterday but the team and the manager have been superb for going on the last year and half.
Sing your hearts out for the lads UTV
