16 goals conceded in our last 6 home games. Whatever we are doing at the back it's not working. He needs to change it. Starting with Konsa being moved back in to his best position.

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season we’ve progressed massively since relegation and indeed since UE took reign.
We have but we have invested heavily and are paying top wages nowadays so whilst we are slightly overachieving (i'd say 7th is our true position ) we would also have expected a big upturn given the investments .

I watched some of the Arsenal game, they went 2-0 up and then stacked their defence. When i watched the Villa replay every goal Brentford got had players loose without a marker, totally unacceptable. We have to be more hard nosed and play to get the result.

Kamara is a huge miss in that regard as he has the nous to drop in with the CBs when we're winning which is why our record of closing out games was so good in the first half of the season.

Won't Cash be back for Arsenal? The injury was 2-3 weeks so that's when he picked it up for Poland so can see him being in contention for Bournemouth if next week comes a little too early.

Emery will have no qualms about leaving Konsa at RB for that one given against Martinelli. Think Lenglet comes back in as perhaps he was ill yesterday not being involved?

Based on player injury predictions I doubt if we se him again this season.

I think Carlos 'looks' like a good defender as he's strong and pulls off last ditch tackles, he did it a few times yesterday. But better defenders don't need to make those tackles as they would have seen the danger earlier and positioned themselves better for getting in an earlier block or interception. I make him perfectly acceptable for a back up centre half.
My big issue with him is with FFP such an issue he was too expensive with no resell value and high wages and worse than what we had already

After vowing to stay away from the match threads for mental reasons I can see I made the right choice yesterday. Some very rational comments but the toxicity from others just seems to stoke people up. Having watched the game it wasn’t as bad as the comments made it sound and to actually get a point from that situation shows some character. It’s frustrating in the moment to see the team make mistakes but moaning and spitting the dummy out surely just exacerbates it. Somebody mentioned Mark Goodridge?!? The other night who I wasn’t aware of until I google him. I watched and although it did make me smile I also found it quite disturbing that I may act like that when watching.

Anyway after the result I stayed away and let things settle. Things really aren’t that bad considering the progress we’ve made since UE arrived, 4th would be amazing but maybe that might be a step too far with the squad we have. God knows what the comments would be like if we qualified and had a season like Newcastle. I’d gladly take a smaller step forward from last season if it meant we got stronger overall.

Why would anyone go into a match thread after the game has ended. Unless they were purposely looking to get outraged/ score better fan than you points. Sad.

Match threads exist for a very specific reason.

Any toxicity, tantrums or tiaras there won't be impacting on the atmosphere at Villa Park, Emery's team selection, the cost of diesel or anything else in the real world.

I think I saw a table last week showing us as 7th highest wage bill, which is usually a fair indicator of squad strength, and thus probably final position in the league.

He looked Gerrard in the eye though.

Just watched motd and our defending for that 10 minute spell was as bad as it gets. The positiong of Carlos and Pau was amateurish for all three goals. And Konsas piss poor attempts at stopping the cross for their 2nd and 3rd goals is totally unacceptable. There needs to be some long hard hours at BH working out what the hell has gone wrong and it has to be sorted or all the hard work this season thus far will be for nothing.

The one person who wouldn't be happy with the argument that we should be happy with our lot is Unai Emery.

I was furious yesterday because it was a slipped opportunity from our own hand.

But, I can also recognise there are possible reasons for some of the drop off recently.

And, I can also recognise that we have made huge strides, have the best man in charge & we are having a wonderful season.

I can never understand why everything has to be so 100% black or 100% white.

The truth more often lays in the grey area...

Indeed.

The posters who may or may not be perma glass half empty-types are prob right that we seem determined to piss away another golden opportunity.

The ones who say we're doing well just to be where we are with more injuries than the Somme are also right.

Continuing to stress either point when faced with variations of the opposing POV won't conclude the argument.

I didn’t mention going into the thread after? Also I’m sorry but I don’t understand this part ‘ outraged/ score better fan than you points. Sad.’

I sort of get it and I’m not on about scoring fan points or who has better fans. The main focus in my post is that negativity during the match thread when the match is in play is pointless but I can understand why people do it. That’s why I stay away?
