As if things couldn't get any worse, I've just dropped a bag of rice which has split all over the kitchen floor. Fuck sake.

Orzo you say.

It's as fractious on here as it was on the Holte earlier.
Results like these do provoke extreme emotions, and you can always rely on someone being hysterical.

No need to get nasty, but then some people are like that. I'm fuming but still love this manager. this team and I will always love this club.

Konsa should be in the centre of defence.
Not buying another RB is haunting us.
At least the run in will be exciting.

What is clear, as is always the case after a disappointing result, some people need to have some perspective.

This is at least the 3rd time we've handed 4th place to Spurs in the past month & to date they've always handed it back.

We'll finish where we deserve to & it'll most likely be 5th. Hopefully that will be enough for Champions League qualification.

Considering the injuries we've had, it's still brilliant that we are where we are.

Our performances have been really disjointed in the last few months though. I'd love to see us regain some of the defensive solidity we had when Emery arrived last season. We will have the personnel to keep it much tighter than we are.

Given how poor Brentford were, I still thought we would get the winner late on. Konsa's effort was appalling but that aside our game management was woeful. Starting with subs in the 90th minute, pointless! So many idiotic fouls that killed the clock. We had 17 mins or so after Watkins scored to get the winner.

9 minutes of lunacy against an awful side. We didn't play particularly well, but you don't necessarily need to.

4 wins out of the last 6 needed.

The only way we will NEED to win 4 out of the last 6 is if Spurs beat Forest, Sheff Utd and Burnley - and ALSO beat two of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Man City.  The chances of that are extremely remote.  Fail to win tomorrow, and they'd need to beat THREE of those final five team.

If Spurs win tomorrow then they're level on points with a game in hand. So surely all they have to do is equal our results, at best, and at some point they have an actual free hit too?

Yes, if we do indeed "need to win 4 of the last 6" and they win tomorrow then they would STILL have to beat both Sheff Utd and Burnley (perfectly plausible) but ALSO two of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Man City (plausible, but not likely).  That would give them the five wins they need to get past us and our "four wins out of six" (though it would be down to goal difference).

We both have what you'd call "three winnable games" left.  They also have five pretty difficult ones, we have three of them. For the record, I don't think they will win 5 from 8, and I don't think we'll win 4 from 6.  69 points could be enough given how bad the bottom two are and how good the top three are. It would be enough for Top Four about a third of the time in the last decade. If they can get 6 points or more from that run of five very difficult games, then they probably deserve it.  Though it's also not beyond the realms of possibility we get something when Liverpool visit on 11th May.

I just think it's a lot closer than some people seem to think.  I genuinely thought if we won today it would knock the wind out of Spurs, but we didn't, and now it's about 50/50 who gets fourth.  They win tomorrow and it's 60/40 in their favour, but still all to play for.

Unexpected results always occur at this time of the season. Most teams are battling for something. We were guilty of complacency but we have a spirit and determination I’ve not seen from Villa sides for a long time. We were a break in the box from winning it.

With all the injuries and suspensions we’ve had to contend with, we continue to punch above our weight. I still think we’ll get to 70 points.

I respectfully disagree I think we’re on the upward curve towards playing in the CL.

Talk of ‘Stoke’ is very premature and tiresome.

I thought the wind played a huge part today. We over got everything first half, second half it stopped out flow and almost gifted Brentford a fourth at the end. I think it also led to their first.

Otherwise defensively we looked v fragile and Konsa doesn’t seem to be a right back.the space the left winger was given was huge. All three goals came from there I think.

Unai Emery on Brentford's left side: "It was my mistake, I have to correct it. Because Regulion crossed three times for three goals. I have to correct it."

Well at least he noticed. Hopefully he'll do something about it in future.
