We def need another right back to rival the Polish Cafu.  The lad from Red Star Belgrade looks more like a long term project.

If we're shunting Konsa RB again and Diego is lining up for us at all next season the summer won't have gone too well.

Carlos is definitely one i'd look to try and get 10m for + his wages off the books. Good player, but not elite, and if we want to be chasing top 4 each year, we need elite.

Because this is Villa, I am still keeping and eye on West Ham, Newcastle and Brighton to see if they are creeping ever nearer.  Fortunately, 7th, and more Conference League, looks assured, pretty much, but any more performances like this and we will struggle for top 5.  We ship far too many simple goals, don't keep enough clean sheets, we are often not aggressive enough in the right way.  Douglas, you oaf.  We must not get cocky when 2-0 up.  Really disappointing week.  1 point, 4 scored, 7 conceded.

Mate, even with dropping 2 points today, Man United are 12 points back with 1 of their games in hand against Liverpool.

West Ham are 12 back on the same games as us with 21 worse goal difference.

Both of these teams would need to 5/7 or 6/6 games to even land on the same points as us if we win 1 more game this season and lost all the others.

Whatever happens we'll be upgrading the European competition next year.

Problem is we really need champions league and having been in Pole most of the season if we don't get it and get Europa where the revenue is far less it will feel like a bit of a disaster .

Jesus, brighten up would you, it's very clearly not a disaster if we got Europa. Champ league is the target but an improvement on last year and maintaining a good European run is excellently done, especially given the injuries.

Incredibly disappointing.

At 2-0 up, with our home record, & their away record, it should have been a comfortable win.

Another "Stoke moment" & our bottle battle with Spurs to see if we can allow ManU to sleaze their way into 4th or 5th is well & truly on.

They have taken their foot off the pedal when a couple up a few times this season & while its good that the likes of Watkins & Douglas Luiz have admitted as such in post match interviews, they need to order everyone around them to jack it in.

I agree. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be disappointed finishing 5th, but only because we were 4th for so long. I'm not overly concerned with the fact 4th definitely brings Champions League, whereas 5th could still miss out. Obviously there's financial gain to be had with CL, but look at Newcastle this season. They've struggled to balance it all and may still end up out of Europe entirely next season. So is the goal one flash in the pan CL run? Or, as boring as it sounds, should we be looking at building something more sustainable?

The squad we have have just about managed to balance Conference with the league, so far..... Both Cup competitions were basically a write off. Obviously we're expecting to add players in the summer, but it's still a huge step up from here to there. When the dust settles I'd think what an incredible season we've had, and be excited about what next season may bring. But in the heat of the moment, it'll be really f**king disappointing to watch Spurs Angeball their way past us.

As disappointing as it is to admit it’s important they are together on this. It’s a very candid observation by Ollie and something we need to develop as a club. It’s not easy and we have come a long way very quickly.

We also really miss having our best centre half, playing at centre half.

Still can't quite believe that.  Did OK first half and got the lead, came out well after the break , got the second goal and looked like we were going to steamroller them. 

Then just an inexplicable collapse, which was bizarre as it wasn't even though Brentford were on top particularly.  Will have to watch the goals again, but surely it wasn't a coincidence that all three goals came from crosses from a similar position down our right hand side.  Came back into after that, equalised and and pushed for the winner but to no avail.  Luiz getting booked in the 97th minute for a nothing tackle in the middle of the pitch probably summed it up.

Time will tell if that point goes on to be an important one or the two dropped ones turn out to be very costly.

It is good to see but when does it change? We keep having these “moments”.

We would have been over the moon with 5th at the start of the season.  It will feel a disappointment - but if we’re lucky and get this coefficient thingy and we get UCL then in the long run it won’t really matter.

The squad and the manager have done amazingly but probably with the injuries we have just pushed the quality and depth of the squad. 

This is the 3rd chance we have blown to really put make 4th place ours - versus Man Utd, Spurs and Brentford at home.

My biggest concern is lack of leadership - in all 3 of those games we showed a lack of backbone.  Typified by that fact that two of the leaders of the club showed terrible judgement and restraint by getting lengthy bans when we already have two midfielders out for the rest of the season.

The defense is too weak and lacks leadership.  Pau is great going forward but I really struggle to see the point in Carlos.  He’s a weak link.  We have missed Mings leadership at times.  And konsa can do a job at right back but the fact remains he is our best defender and overs very little going forward.  And without Kamara or even dendonker screening we ship goals for fun.
