Sometimes we need reminding that we're still the Villa. From Boxing Day onwards those reminders have been coming with increased frequency.
We've been shaky / erratic ever since that Sheffield Utd game (1-1)

We have been losing players for several matches at a time since then so any wonder? We didn't have Torres or Kamara in that one for example.

Emery's stoke moment . Very poor games for Bailey McGinn Konsa who bottled it. Carlos and Torres powder puff defending . Handed it on a plate to Spurs now .

Totally disagree. Three - two down and we pull it back, shows plenty of fight and bottle in this squad. We've cracked the sixty point barrier and this could prove to be a fantastic point come season's end.  UTV

or we could be ruing the 2 points we threw away

Now, if we'd lost after being 2-0 up, I'd be absolutely gutted. If Brentford had snatched it 3-4 with Toney scoring in the 97th minute I'd be beyond absolutely gutted. The fact that we gained something from near calamity is something that rarely happens going by my experience of Villa over the recent past, so I'm content with a point in the end - and four points taken from a shit-housing side like Brentford this season will do me fine.  We just have to keep pushing and grinding out the points from here on.

Because this is Villa, I am still keeping and eye on West Ham, Newcastle and Brighton to see if they are creeping ever nearer.  Fortunately, 7th, and more Conference League, looks assured, pretty much, but any more performances like this and we will struggle for top 5.  We ship far too many simple goals, don't keep enough clean sheets, we are often not aggressive enough in the right way.  Douglas, you oaf.  We must not get cocky when 2-0 up.  Really disappointing week.  1 point, 4 scored, 7 conceded.

We didn't lose, after 10 mins of madness. Shame about Dougie's yellow but he could do with a rest, and he'll be fresh for Lille.

C'mon Liverpool, Arsenal, Citeh and West Ham!

1 to 11 we're a better team than Tottingham with everyone fit (not a luxury we've had this season).

But in the games I watched them recently against Brighton, Palarse and Luton at home there was sense of inevitability about them coming back when they went behind.

Relentess, chance after chance created. We couldn't nab a goal when we needed it in the closing stages and looked short of ideas. That, married with the defensive fuckeries which have dogged us in the second half of the campaign will probably do for us.

9 minutes of lunacy against an awful side. We didn't play particularly well, but you don't necessarily need to.

4 wins out of the last 6 needed.

Mate, even with dropping 2 points today, Man United are 12 points back with 1 of their games in hand against Liverpool.

West Ham are 12 back on the same games as us with 21 worse goal difference.

Both of these teams would need to win 5/7 or 6/6 games to even land on the same points as us if we win 1 more game this season and lost all the others.

Whatever happens we'll be upgrading the European competition next year.

As good as Torres is with the ball, we’ve not got anyone anywhere near as good at Mings in defence at defending. It’s been brilliant, but we’ve looked quite vulnerable all season. We need someone quick, organised and solid next to Torres next season. Probably Konsa and a more reliable right back would do the trick.

Playing like we are there's not a chance that will happen.

Who are you suggesting from Brentford did then?

We did whatever we wanted for the first 60 minutes and the last 20 into stoppage time.

Problem is we really need champions league and having been in Pole most of the season if we don't get it and get Europa where the revenue is far less it will feel like a bit of a disaster .
