Love how the wolves fans are moaning that they would have won if they had their players. I mean its not like they had 7 players out...

They had no forward threat at all. Anyway, f*ck them, we were at least three goals better on the day. Was very impressed by Gomes in the first half, strong, good touch and quick. Took a while for Luiz to get to grips with him. If we had money to spend in the summer he would be a good addition.

We had duran for 45 mins who has only started a couple league games prior though

Our injuries are much worse

My thoughts on yesterdays win

Big win against a team We’ve struggled with it over recent seasons, second half we were in total control but I was still feeling a bit nervous right till the end because that’s what it’s like with Villa

Martinez with a key save in the first half, this man is not talked about enough without that save We are chasing the game, he is the best in the world and is was worth 10 points a season.

Good substitutions, Zani looked good I love the way he never hides and he’s hungry for the ball.

Mareno with one of the worst performances especially first half I’ve seen in a very long time
Atrocious doesn’t do it justice,
defensively poor and nothing he did in their half came off, It was truly woeful how he was kept on the pitch for so long. I’ve no idea probably not to dent confidence which is fine but it could’ve Cost us

For the first time yesterday I saw something in Rogers, I actually thought he was our best player before he went off
Tielemans also look decent, considering our injury situation we’ve coped really well

This is probably our best season for the best part of 40 years, what Unai has done is miraculous really
The best thing for me is my kids are enjoying watching Villa after 10 years of only seeing abject rubbish  season after season, obviously the promotion Year was okay but Villa aren’t a championship side

Martinez, Torres, McGinn, Dougie plus a few others are destined for legendary status at Villa Park along with the greatest manager since Saunders, Villa are back

Sorry this should be in the post match thread but I don’t know how to move it

All I keep seeing is them going on about missing players.

They were missing Neto, Cunha, Dawson, Bellegarde and Hwang. 5 players.

We were missing Mings, Cash, Kamara, Buendia, Ramsey, McGinn. 6 players, and lost Watkins at HT.

Whining twats.

The El-Ghazi last minute penalty didn't count because of Covid, yesterday didn't count because they had players missing. This is just what Wolves fans do.

Along with fans of West Brom and Small Heath.  You can never beat them, just score more goals.

Some of their more demented supporters (in a crowded field) seem to have got the idea in their heads that we are going to be facing a points deduction at some unspecified future point. Bless.

They should look closer to home, they were on the precipice….& they should have been relegated to the Beazer Homes league for the player laundering from Mendes that got them promoted in the first place

Deluded I’d say.

Absolutely. They missed one gilt edged chance. I hardly remember Emi1 having to do anything much other than take the odd goal kick after the changearound

What I've noticed in the last few months is how every team we play is intent on trying to disrupt our rhythm and possession with lots of fouls. After we got on top yesterday, it was all the Dogheads had (that and being compact with a low block).

As we're not viewed as a 'top' team we do not get the same protection as the likes of Man U, Red Scouse, and Arsenal. And we don't have players or coaches that bleat endlessly to officials and in the media.

Emery is to be applauded for that - though I hope it doesn't cost us. UTV.

I agree, I've been watching Maddison a bit of late and he is constantly on at refs, and in an aggressive manner too. He should get booked but never is. That's just one example but we never really do it.

Mcginn and luiz are pretty good at going up in arms at some tackles.
