Rogers looks like he’d be better in the middle to me, he’s strong with excellent feet.

Moreno was extremely poor yesterday. He’s a 5/10 attacking option, but 3/10 defender. No idea why he’s starting over Digne, he doesn’t deserve to be.

When we're really on song and generally not needing to do any defending, Moreno looks really dangerous. When we're not, though, or when he has someone in front of him who will create the need for him to do more defending, he can look very shaky.

I agree on Digne. He's certainly attack minded when he needs to be, but we just look a much more solid team when he's in it than we do with Moreno, and at this point of the season, with a tough run-in and so much to play for, he'd be my first choice pretty much every time.

I've resigned myself to losing Digne in the summer and I'm not overly happy with it. I'll admit last season Moreno was excellent and Digne wasn't. There was also a slightly different line up around Moreno last year with Mings and Ramsey there, and he's been injured, but the way he's playing lately, if Digne does go, I'd hope we'll bring in another LB option.

Love how the wolves fans are moaning that they would have won if they had their players. I mean its not like they had 7 players out...

They had no forward threat at all. Anyway, f*ck them, we were at least three goals better on the day. Was very impressed by Gomes in the first half, strong, good touch and quick. Took a while for Luiz to get to grips with him. If we had money to spend in the summer he would be a good addition.

Ended up being a really comfortable win, our team minus lots of players, was just superior to their team minus lots of players. The last 15 mins or so, reminded me of lots of home games earlier in the season where we just managed it out comfortably.

Day spoiled a bit by the journey home. Some moron on the train back to Wylde Green was a bit gruff/rude to my 14 year old lad as the two of us and my daughter were standing in the packed train aisle. I asked said middle aged moron politely not to talk to my lad like that. He decided to spend the rest of the journey, talking behind my head about hows he’s no peado, but a bodybuilder and thrres only one winner here etc etc, before finally shoving his phone in my ear, all in front of my teenage kids. Nice bloke

The other was because the asst ref’s comms rig packed in. They had to fix it because heaven forbid them communicating using the stick with the scrap of material tied to it.

Hard to communicate with a scrap of material and stick to London (or wherever the VAR studios are). With the crap rules now of letting VAR decide the goal if it occurs, they tell the ref early if they believe it was offside and he lets them know when to flag it if he doesn't think it is leading to a goal scoring chance.

He was on Duran's shoulder when Diaby had the ball both indicating for the cross, he then let Duran make the run which Konsa's finish didn't need.

I know there is a lot of technology involved, but the older amongst us would remember that historically at this time of year, the only areas where grass survived would have been on the wings. I further pondered that Villa Park is a beautiful thing and doesn’t need the assorted fireworks and flame throwing to tart itself up, just let us bathe in its magnificence.

I watched the whole of the 1990/91 season review video on Youtube the other night after someone posted a clip on the Sid Cowans thread of him at his best. Jesus, the state of the Villa Park turf (and other grounds) for much of that season. Divots everywhere, muck showing through the grass. A fookin' disgrace! And Doug's revelatory green sand in the penalty box didn't even arrive til the following season!

Other takes from 90/91 - sad to say it but McGrath actually made mistakes leading to goals, penalties were just as soft back then (which surprised me, as I have a bee in my bonnet as to how easy it is to win them these days) and until we got whipped 5-0 at Highbury with David Platt ending-up in goal in April'91, we weren't exactly shit, often losing by the odd goal, but there seemed a real lack of belief in the team, (chucking-in so many late goals) which surprised me given the experience we had on the pitch.

As others have said, once we got going it was a comfortable win given so many first choice players were unavailable.

It's really great to see the fringe/back-up options making more of a contribution - probably as a result of the development of the whole group under Emery and his staff.

Diaby is far from a back-up player, but his progress in recent games has been significant. I think he is seriously good and will only get better.

What I've noticed in the last few months is how every team we play is intent on trying to disrupt our rhythm and possession with lots of fouls. After we got on top yesterday, it was all the Dogheads had (that and being compact with a low block).

As we're not viewed as a 'top' team we do not get the same protection as the likes of Man U, Red Scouse, and Arsenal. And we don't have players or coaches that bleat endlessly to officials and in the media.

Emery is to be applauded for that - though I hope it doesn't cost us. UTV.
