Loads of them are bleating on about injuries. Ignoring all of ours. And also ignoring that they were building a squad to rival Real Madrid's.

Duran played really well and caused all sorts of problems. Digne starts next game, no brainier and only one of Diaby or Bailey, can't have both of them at City. Four wins to guarantee it I reckon so a free hit at City.

When do Spurs play their extra game? I don't think I'll feel comfortable until that's out of the way and we're back on level pegging.

Haha yeh remember the times when they thought world domination was around the corner and it was then Real Madrid for top players. Fucking morons

It’s just remarkable what what Unai has done with us and turned us into. 8 games to go and now with a very legitimate chance of finishing 4th and at worst 5th approximately 18 months from being a relegation candidate.

And terrible injuries.

I am very unpopular on match threads, I take it, I go a bit OTT but it's just that I have never ever had this level of faith in any villa manager before.

Ron Saunders?

I think Unai is the nearest we've come to that. (Very) honourable mentions to SGT and , for me , Big Ron.

Apart from the first 15 mins in each half I though we were in complete control. Could easily have grabbed a couple more. Zaniola and Duran really gave us something when they came on.

Thought Rodgers ball carrying in the first half was excellent. He was gliding past them at points. Faded in the second half but you can see what he’ll bring.

Moreno was awful. All he did was give the ball away. Should have been subbed earlier.

As for Wolves, all they did was foul all game. Offered nothing of value.

Easy win in the end.
Wolves look on the beach.

When do we find out if 5th place gets CL?

That’s not their spare game as it’s a full midweek fixture programme. They miss a game against one of the cup semi-finalists as well I think so that’s two they’ve got to fit in. Their current game in hand in Chelsea away.

I think their additional game is away at Chelsea.  Not sure when but it won't be an easy game for them.

Their extra game is away to 4th placed Chelsea.

We should have a much better idea after all the quarter-finals, so 16/17/18 April.

Kelly Dalgleish said earlier that there is an 80% chance of 5th being good enough for Champs League.

Went to put money on a Zani yellow when he came on at 6-1, noticed Duran was 9-1 so stuck a bit on that as well. Lovely stuff.

Good performance after a very slow start. Subs made a big impact, once we scored it never looked in doubt. Comfortable home win, only negative the Watkins injury and Moreno was very poor. I'm not a fan of Konsa at RB at all but he was good today. Credit to Emery

Martinez 8 - brilliant save kept it scoreless
Konsa 8 - fortunate goal but solid game today at RB
Carlos 7 - lucky to get away with keystone cops moment but solid that aside and passing much better
Torres 6 - poor first half, at fault for their big chance. Settled after half time
Moreno 3 - bit of a shocker really, took the wrong option on the ball constantly and lucky wasn't punished for his daft run
Luiz 8 - not at his best first half but was very disciplined today and showed the necessary leadership without McGinn. Ran the show in second half
Tielemans 8 - hardly got a kick early on but beautiful pass set Watkins through and had a fine game afterwards
Bailey 7 - touch and movement excellent at times, always a threat
Rogers 6 - some good runs with the ball in first half and hard to stop. Faded though
Watkins 6 - worked hard first half but poor effort when clean through.
Diaby 8 - took his time to get into the game but his goal set him going

Duran 7 - forced turnover for the goal and gave us a real presence up top. Decision making on ball still mixed
Digne 7 - locked down the left flank when he came on
Zaniolo 8 - thought he was excellent when he came on. Dominated their full back. Starting to use his size a lot better.

Emery 9 - a perfect day really. Routine home win in a derby with all our injuries and after Spurs winning.  Has started to get a tune out of the likes of Diaby, Duran and Zaniolo just when we need it.
