^ I don't know if anyone else was interested in him, but I'm glad both he and Dougie went abroad. If we have to lose important players we should be as in control as possible and make sure they don't go to rivals.

I know we spent more money than any other club in Europe; however, I want four more signings before the window closes. They are:

Buy
Matías Soulé around £27m
Dean Huijsen around £17m
Maximilian Beier £25m
Michael Kayode around £17m

Total cost £86M

Sell
Lucas Digne for £12m
Diego Carlos for £17m
Leander Dendoncker £5m
Moussa Diaby £50m ish
Jhon Durán £35m

Total sales £119

Now, what do I do with my remaining two wishes?

First one, wish for more than 119 quid for those players.

Apart from that, good sales and signings, especially Kayode. Wouldn’t mind a Felix and a Baena as alternatives to your attackers, but whoever comes in I’m convinced Unai/Monchi will get it right.

Other than the one “premium” attacker be that Felix, Baena, Beier or whoever comes in as direct replacement for Diaby, I’d be happy if that’s us done for the summer in terms of incoming players.

One of the best aspects of last summer was the fact we got business done early, had our final squad together for the whole of the pre season and hit the ground running with everyone on the same page with Emery’s ideas.

We’ve already had a decent amount of squad churn this summer, and PSR is sorted for the year, so I’d rather we “lock in” our squad soon even if that means keeping players like Carlos for another year instead of bringing in another 4-5 new faces that some are still calling for.

Think you might be on your own there.
We have no idea about the situation with Tyrone, or if he’s coming back at all.
We desperately need a commanding centre half and if the talk of Philogene going to Everton on loan comes off, we need a right sided wide man.

I hope we are not done by any stretch as we need and needed both quantity and quality. I’m hoping that Duran goes and we bring in at least a centre back and a creative number 10. Likely to need a back up forward too.

Soule to Roma seems pretty much a done deal.

Which is annoying as it was reported he was our first choice for the Dougie swap, only to be told "no"

Philogene is not going out in loan. That’s madness.

Don’t disagree with you on the whole, although still not totally convinced about carlos and we do need a top quality attacker to replace Disby, feels Emery has set his stall out for Felix. I would of thought one of Digne or Moreno will go as well. But there has been a fair bit of churn, so I’d agree with getting anymore tweaks sorted and focusing the squad for the next month on what Unai wants from them.

Not seen that about Philogene anywhere? Can’t see him agreeing ti come back on that basis.

If philogene does go on loan to a premier league club we’ll sell him again for a bumper profit in this FFP year.

We're also struggling to fill the homegrown players places for CL so Philogene certainly isn't going anywhere

Yep, great business that. Lie to a kid to get him to come back on the promise that he'll get played, then the next week tell him we're fucking him off somewhere on loan...

It ain't happening.

Where has Philogene going out on loan been mentioned? That’s not going to happen.

Having spent far too much time on Twitter recently, I've noticed that the João Félix rumours have really ramped up overnight. That, plus with the Diaby announcement and the fact they apparently want him out of the club before their training restarts, makes me think something significant might happen in the next couple of days. He'd be a risky signing, in that he hasn't performed at the (unrealistic?) level expected of him in the last few years, but he surely has huge potential. Just 24, plenty of experience, global reputation. Unai clearly rates him, he's on record saying as much, and he's much better suited to the role Diaby was asked to fill last year. This would be a massive signing, even with the understandable concerns about attitude etc. I think a lot of that comes from the fact he should never have gone to Atlético Madrid to play under Simeone - that was a mistake for everyone concerned (except Benfica).

The other fun rumour I've seen is about Mario Hermoso, who we've been linked with for a while now. He left Atlético on a free, but despite being linked with clubs all over Europe, he hasn't found a new club yet. However, I've seen someone claim that the agency that represents him has been renting a couple of properties in Sutton all summer - could one be for him and we're just waiting to shift someone before we sign him? (Sometimes I try to kid myself that reading convoluted rumours like this is beneath me, but that's nonsense. I love it).

Do we need a left sided centre back that can also play left back? It's probably not a priority at the moment, and if we were to sign him it would raise further uncomfortable questions about Tyrone. But Hermoso ticks a lot of boxes of what we seem to be looking for this summer - experienced, has played in the Champions League, versatile, over 6ft, excellent value (in this case free). Maybe we're waiting to shift a left back or two? Is what side a centre back plays on as important as we think? Are we going to play with three centre backs....?
