Calvert-Lewin is really good, but always injured. He'd be playing for a much better team than Everton otherwise. I wouldn't touch him.

Pretty sure he's English, not Scottish.

We've just bought Diaby’s replacement back from Hull.

Philogene, a winger, is backup for Bailey.

So, I'm confused about Diaby and his role on the pitch. If we distill the season, his role was as wonder-sub, providing some great assists. My one clear memory is of him pulling down a long pass from Torres vs CP and - in the same movement - passing it into the net; only to be ruled marginally offside by a VAR who clearly didn't appreciate pure skill.
The question is whether Diaby can find a role that is more influential and additive than last season: with Watkins, Bailey, Rogers et al looking so strong, I wonder?!
I don't think Philogene's return has anything to do with Diaby's future.

I was reading an article today regarding a Duran replacement.
Two guys had their own idea one was Beier and the other Brobby (Ajax)

I remember him being a bit of a handful when we played them.
Different sort of player to Ollie and a bit of a beast, much the same as Duran,

Couldn’t cope with Brobbey….in the games vs Ajax every time the ball went near him I exclaimed ‘Brobbey Brobbey Brobbey’….i was even doing my own head in.  If we sign him you are welcome to replicate :-)

I hope this isn't true. Or, if it is, we have someone amazing lined up. Encouraged by the fact that loads of journalists were convinced he was signing for Al-Wahhabi last year.

I bet he didn’t hit the heights that some expected of him but the return in his first season was excellent. Outside of the alien at Man City how many players come in from Germany and just set things alight in the PL? Jadon Sancho cost way more and got dumped by Man U if you want to compare a player in a similar position. Werner was and is shit. Havertz only now looks a good player. Diaby should not be sold. We should continue to allow him time to develop as Bailey did. If we sell him for a business reason to get other players in that’s one thing. But we absolutely should not be giving up on him at all under some misguided impression that he failed. He did not.

Why does it matter where he came from? I wouldn't say that Diaby's stats were excellent at all, especially given what he cost. 6 goals and 8 assists, the list of players bettering that last season wasn't small. Carlton Morris did better than that for Luton Town.

I know they pay a load over there but a 25 year old wanting to go into semi retirement in a shit league would make me question their ambition.

Agreed. People mention that they'd expect him to replicate Bailey's improvement in form, but to do that he's got to roll up his sleeves and put the graft in, not bugger off to that joke league.

He probably gets paid a fortune to model stuff that looks a bit "OTT". I'm sure when he's sat around at home he's probably just in jeans and T-shirt like most people.

VillaTim stands outside shop changing rooms so he can shout "shit", "rubbish" and "you look like Todd Cantwell" at people as they emerge.
