Of course we are - he’s odd, but he’s got plenty of potential. His goals to minutes ratio is excellent.
In the premier league ?

🚨 EXCL: Chelsea hold talks with reps of Lille striker Jonathan David over potential summer move. 24yo high among multiple #CFC options + contract 2025 so fee likely to be reasonable. No approach to #LOSC yet but good relations between clubs
@TheAthleticFC

Would they want him and Duran?

I'd imagine it would be one or the other. They seem to be getting linked to more strikers than Arthur Scargill.

Agreed, can’t see them wanting both. David has been linked with a few English clubs today, Man U and think Spurs were the other ones. He didn’t really impress me much over the two games we played against them.

Brais Mendez, Real Sociedad, being linked.  Not a great source though.

I agree, he'd be a gamble, whereas Duran is already up to speed, pain in the arse by all accounts, but at least we know he can score goals in this league.  David was anonymous in the two games we played against them.

In terms of minutes of the pitch he played about 7 full games or so in the league and scored 5 goals.

Yes.

5 goals in 476 minutes (plus added time).

Yeah fair enough those stats are very good . His overall game is raw but that's an age / experience issue. Was he awarded the goal v Liverpool , kind of deflected but he may have meant it too.

Our deals are certainly upsetting people. It seems mostly Arsenal and Spurs fans.

This from a Spurs fan made me chuckle;

“Wonder what other deals those clubs will make with each other?

If Chelsea or Villa need a result later in the season and happen to be playing each other or they need a specific result from a game the other is playing in? Murky waters ahead.”

 ;D

Absolutely beauty to see….just read the Manchester United PSR thread….fuming :-) must be worried that Everton will catch them next season

Aston Villa….no longer ignored

I think the vast majority of us would be happy keeping Durán if we're solely looking at the quality of player. It's the pain in the arse element that would worry me, especially if he was the one pushing for the Chelsea move and then he's blown it for himself. To be fair to him, bar a few times where he shot when he should have passed, I don't think we can fault his efforts on the pitch, despite what may have been happening off it.

It would be if Watkins was injured and we had to rely on him for multiple full matches that would still be a question mark for me, but honestly I think that's going to be a worry when comparing anyone to Watkins.

Its funny the ones that seem to be most annoyed.  Id get it if brentford or bournemouth were annoyed as they probably have some right to be annoyed. I.e. PSR is there to help keep the playing form level and these are clear attempts to circumvent it.

But those very worse clubs - who have the odds stacked in there favour and the system set up for there vested interest seem to be annoyed the most.

The complete lack of understanding.  Sitting there with clubs 100m in debt saying why cant we live within our means.  Fuck off.

I not particularly like what were doing - but when the laws an arse...

Liverpool and Manchester United got lots of fans in the 80s/90s and therefore they should be successful for the rest of time and nobody else should ever be allowed to compete.

They’re annoyed because we’ve finally got our act together and they can see we’re a legitimate threat. They don’t want another club in the mix. Ultimately, it’s healthier for the league that there are more clubs that achieve champions league football. But they won’t see it that way.

Despite winning a few cups, Man Utd have been pretty much a shambles for a decade yet have largely still waltzed into the champions league and been able to write off a series of poor player investments and the PSR rules have protected them and allowed them continue in that vein. We finally qualify and have to sell one of our best players for less than we’d like and a host of academy products. There’s something wrong with that.

If what we’re doing is complying with the rules that all the clubs voted for, I have zero problem whatsoever with any creative means to allow us to compete on a more level playing field. And if it gets up the noses of the sky 6, all the better. Or have they forgotten that they all wanted to run off to join the super league for even more money. We’re scrimping and dealing just to keep our best players and put a  decent squad together. It’s ridiculous to be having a pop at us.

Not only that, they know we've the best manager in the league.

Why wouldn't he be? Could fall over, cartwheel and have someone else's strike clip the top of his studs, sending Troy Deeney home in tears, and it would still be his goal.
