I think Emery is trying to make us significantly more dynamic and athletic across the pitch with the links so far. Maatsen and Illing Junior make our left side young and very fast, McKennie for all the jokes is a good athlete, quick, decent size and likes to drive with the ball. All the right back links are similar. Gallagher is a terrior like midfielder that never stops. I think he's trying to get more legs into the side. Which is fine, as long as you have a player or two that can also put their foot on the ball and calm it down. Dougie did that, we still need that type somewhere.

Pau Torres is the main man for that but Tielemans is also at his best when he has a lot of willing runners around him.

I was just thinking literally the only other 'Nd- word I've heard of is the Mafia bunch.

It's a 'NdCalabria thing.

Fixed.

Telegraph reporting that we want Maatsen.

A pacy young agile attacking LB/LWB in part exchange for Duran & some cash makes a lot of sense.

I hope this one happens as I like him a lot as a player.

It's the type of player I imagined we'd sign if we got into the CL before all the financial bollox kicked in.

Yeah, me too.

Same with Iling-Junior.

They are very exciting prospects & pretty decent players right now too...

Maatsen has just joined up with the Dutch squad in Germany, his father had to drive him there as they were holidaying in Greece.

I know the EU fucked them over quite a bit but surely there is an airport still open?

Add me to the list who'd never even heard of Nduja ten minutes ago.

I think driving the 600km was faster than hanging around airports etc. Or maybe it's a Dutch thing and just like Denis Bergkamp, he's afraid of flying.

If both trasfers happen that means we'll have added an entire new left side to the squad in 4 windows under Emery, Moreno last January, Rogers this and now Maatsen and Iling-Junior, that's a very intentional addition of pace and power on that side of the pitch.

You wouldn’t think so with them being so tall.

Plenty of time for Barkley to play that 60 yarder out to Bailey on the right in acres of space.

I've no opinion on Maatsen but I'd be happier if we were being linked with a RB.
