Ref aside we have a strange approach in these away European ties. We’ve consistently looked stodgy and one paced, which is very different to how we are domestically. Still 0-0 away isn’t the worst, as long as Pau isn’t injured.
Conserving energy?

Torres was planned not injured :-)

Hallelujah.  It's been a good, if not great, night then.

Who is this fucking moron interviewing Unai? He's absolutely dismal.

I thought he was nervous but did a good job

All part of the plan in cup competitions - same as the FA and League Cup.

Not one for the neutrals. Or Ajax and Villa fans to be fair. A decent result.

Not sure why some think that going back to VP 0-0 is OK.

The stats show that most teams that draw 0-0 away end up progressing.

Yes.

That was a classic European away performance. Minimal drama and don’t lose, then bring the tie home.

Because we put out a weakened team. A clean sheet and a draw in an away leg at this stage in Europe is a good result.

Also Sunday is vital and we are favourites to get through this tie now.

That was such a bad game! Villa played with no intensity at all and Ajax seemed to be playing at full throttle but didn’t offer any real threat. I think we’ll get the low block treatment at VP and need to smash them asap in the first half.

For those who were there, was the stadium as impressive as it looked on the TV?

I thought that, too. I can see why they needed Henderson
