Id love the opportunity to sit down with Big Ron & just talk his time at Villa.
We had some unforgettable times under his leadership.

Thanks for the memories Ron

Very up and down for me, Ron.

Did well with a new team for the first half of the season. After Xmas, we had that long League goals drought, before we recovered to finish comfortably top half. Good cup run, too, where we were unlucky to lose at Anfield. Great title challenge next season that I think we would have won had it not been for long-term injuries to Atkinson and Froggatt. Won the cup the following season, but League form, especially at home dropped away drastically. Played some good football in his last season and had no luck but one point out of 27 tells its own tale.

Him and O Neill due to their media work gave Villa an elevated profile befitting our stature.

Tony Daley had a long term injury during the BFR era as well which robbed him of some if his devastating pace.

Ron talks about going on the mic at VP after we beat Palace 3-0 in Sep'92 to tell the fans that Deano was about to be signed. Is there footage of this?

It wasn't a guarantee that Deano would be signed, more that he would do everything possible to make sure he was.

Ellis was close to putting the kybosh on the whole thing with his meddling as usual.

BFR used it as an opportunity to put pressure on him.

He was very open at the time. I rememeber AGMS where he would just chat away to supporters afterwards. Really honest.

Brian Little too. I remember him telling us what a difficult character Dalian Atkinson had been to manage and how he had bullied Tommy Johnson when he first arrived.

I remember it like it was yesterday, primarily because Ron kept pronouncing Saunders as Sarnders, a thing we all still do to this day

I watched the interview the other day with a couple of mates and said the same, can picture him clear as day from where we sat a few rows behind the dug outs.
