I agree with all of that. The bit about seeing the badge hit a note though. Hecks incompetence has led to a situation where we just don't have a recognised badge or brand. Highlights on motd etc show players sporting one badge while a different one is displayed in the studio. And there's a deeply unpopular one in the pipeline. It's something the club really needs to get a grip of if our badge is to become world renowned.

These owners gave us Deano, kept Grealish until the time was right, appointed the recruitment team(s) that brought in Mings, Konsa, Dougie, Ollie, Emi, Kamara, Bailey, etc, and were directly responsible for getting Emery. There’s no reason to worry that they’re suddenly going to start getting things wrong.

I’m a bit the same and have been for a long time. I remember leaving the FA Cup defeat against Fulham in 98/99 and realising we were never ever going to take the ‘next step’, and I should just stop letting the hope that we would eat me up.

Who will get it right  (Right being increasing our turnover hugely which is what he is there to do) even if there are bumps and unpalatable things along the way. Everyone makes mistakes, the Everton ticket pricing was a huge one, but they learned from it and now some of the ticket pricing has been superb.

Great read and observations Dave as usual.  We can shout about something when we have achieved something. Once (see being positive is rubbing off ) we are in the Champions league we can hand over to the marketers and say "Off you go then and milk it to death"  Then the "Proud history, Bright future " will never have been more apt.

I actually struggle to see where we could buy (if the FFP thing was not a cross to bare) better that some of our team at the moment. Assuming money no real issue:

Emi - Any other keeper you would want - err no

Pau - As above

Konsa - As above

McGinn - if he keeps the Emery form up - nope

Bailey - As Mcginn

Dougie - Nope

Kamara - Only Declan Rice for me

Watkins - Haaland aside - nope

Ramsay - i think he will just get better and better and be the partner of Bellingham for England for years to come (Once Mouthgate fucks off)

Thats 9 players out of 11  - of the other 3 needed 2 x are full backs

I'm more than happy with left back too, and if this new kid turns out to be good i'll feel the same about right back. I think we could just do with that 1 creative/attacking player who has that bit of something amazing. Think of Coutinho's best game for us and him producing it every week, that sort of thing. And then i think we're still not quite as strong overall squad wise as some but may have to be in the CL for that.
