Just woke up and thought I would check in. Should I have bothered? Have we been poor again?

I pity the poor souls who paid to go to this match.

It shows how far we still have to go as a football brand that there really wasn’t many in the crowd before the rain came. Less now of course. The Sky 6 have spent years building their name through success or CL appearances. I’m glad we are a growing brand but we need to sustain it for years to be truly relevant globally.

We've been better in the 2nd half, with more control but no real attacking threat.

We really do miss the silky control, poise and composure in midfield of Douglas Luiz.

I think we’ve looked better with 10 than 11; more interceptions, a corner; playing in their half is another improvement.

Carlos red in a friendly I presume this means he will miss our first league game? Was it a deserved sending off?

Well that was a performance that doesn’t fill me with much confidence. Haven’t seen anything from the new players to suggest they’ve actually improved the team or squad as a whole. My main concerns are our CB options and still not having a backup for Ollie.

It was just petulant and stupid. He got dragged into a situation he shouldn’t have reacted to. He’s more than experienced not to have allowed it to happen. Yes Openda played it up a bit. But it’s on Carlos not to find himself in that situation. So yes is the answer.

It will have no impact on the Premier League

Fortunately we won't be playing Wimbledon this season. Other that, great to see Emi B back, Ned did okay, certainly better than Cash, Youri still class and Unai only has three things to fix and we'll be flying; the defence, midfield and the attack. Not a shot on goal in 90 minutes takes some doing.

Openda reminded me of Martyn’s ‘wasps’ thread.

Onwards and upwards, it would be nice to win a game, again, that’s what Unai does!
If nothing else, the pre season shows how good and how much missed our internationals are!

Sounds like Unai needs to get back to a deep analysis and Monchi opening the wallet again.  Centre back, number 10 and another forward still needed? Despite having Ollie and Konsa to come back.
