A nice day for a prospective Villa fan....
« on: February 14, 2024, 08:43:11 PM »
Earlier today i took my eight year old son for his first visit to Villa Park. He still hadn't got the football bug totally but he'd had  a few shirts bought for him over the years and was keen to see the cathedral of football. I mentioned this to one of the club shop girls as she was printing the name on his new shirt and she sent us the way of the  North Stand Reception where we ended up having coffees   sat right in front of the stands looking at the whole ground. I was absolutely made up, we only turned up to go to the shop, get him a shirt and walk around the outside of the ground. He was given lanyards and three programmes. Top marks to the staff in shop and the reception. I think its done the trick, he was absolutely wowed and i was buzzing. Until I heard the Carlos news!

That’s ace, they did something similar for my lad a few years ago, he was only 4 at the time, they even took the play off final trophy out of the cabinet to hold, it’s the little things like this that make memories forever and definitely make them a villan for life

Lovely stuff. He’ll remember the day forever.

I still remember my first visit to Villa park, it was a match day though. Walking out into the Holte, I was hooked.

They really did. Had the club shop girl not said anything we'd never have ventured in there.

Great experience for you and the seed firmly planted in your son's head now. Little things like that make all the difference. I'm certain that initiative is by design rather than a one off.  If they can do that 10x a week they help secure the future fan base. Cynical head on, customer base.

When I went back into the shop after I did tell another family in there about where we'd just been and seemed quite keen and excited  to do the same. Whether or not they did I don't know but its certainly a nice thing.to do on a non match day - and yes it makes the club a bit more money too when you buy a drink. Im sure when the Villa View interviewed Brian Little in there about 5.years ago it was on the level above.
