3-0 to Villa, as they feel our wrath after recent frustrations.

I don’t know if it’s a confidence thing, or the absences have disrupted things, or a combination of both. But we’re starting games very passively at the moment - we really need to be front footed and assertive in this game.

In an effort to buck the recent trend thought I’d start this.

Really need a big improvement and a win here.
When is the match? What time  is the kick off? ;)

We all know how this will go.

Sheffield united will sit in and frustrate us and we will slowly play around with the ball without creating anything and United will kick it over the top and score.

I'm all for Emery's ideal of controlling the game but when we have control we have to move the ball quicker and with purpose.

Bailey must start.

Maybe a switch to 4231 or some variation of it required. Bailey will come in for Diaby anyway. Ramsey and Carlos might. Just hope we see something different tactically and a number of players getting their horror show efforts against Newcastle out of their systems.

--------Martinez
Cash, Konsa, Carlos, Moreno
-------Luiz, Kamara
McGinn, Tielemans, Bailey
---------Watkins

3-1 to Villa. They're rubbish and will certainly get relegated.

Agree. They need points desperately now and can't sit back for a draw. We will rip them apart this time.

I see it’s on Sky, 5:30 Saturday.

Would love a dominating goal fest but am not feeling that we are quite at the races so 2-2

Lots of folks seemingly conceding already.  I get why but I think it’s too early for that.  Especially when we play these chumps next. We will win and convincingly I’m sure of it.  Still a long way to go yet.

Not a lot of confidence of anything here given our awful record there and current point a game form. They're an abysmal side for sure, but this whole thing (as others have said) feels very wheels come off 2009 and 2010. To go out of the cup and get beaten by bottom of the league shite feels very on brand for the Villa.

No Torres and we can't play out from the back without him. Insipid off the ball, the double box the the other night just allowed Gordon to murder us and Newcastle to generally bypass us wide/high, with us having no intention of getting close to stopping the source. It was an utterly pathetic and abominable performance. Not one easily recovered from when you've laboured against Sheffield United, Everton, Chelsea, Burnley previously and even spurned a 2 goal lead. Champions League is fading off into the distance of "what might have been".

A disappointing 2nd half of the season to likely get even more disappointing, as we won't change how we play. They're overly physical and our best hope is for Championship football of who makes the first mistake.

Bailey has to start. I don't care how injured he is. Any sort of win will do, anything less is horrific. Horrific I suspect it shall be. Farewell 2023, you were good. Hello 2024 and return to upper midtable.

Martinez

Cash
Konsa
Carlos
Moreno

McGinn
Luiz
Kamara
Bailey

Tielemans
Watkins
