Don't forget this, we may be overrating him.

Getting close to being my favourite villa player (attacking). Capable of almost anything. Who needs Grealush?

We almost had Rogers included as part of the Grealish deal.

Best compliments I can pay him is that he is now on a par (starting years behind) with the best talent this country has produced since Gascoigne.

He is also the reason why pundits are not calling the title a 2 horse race,

England has produced loads of players better than Gascoigne since Gascoigne.

Achievement wise I totally agree. Talent wise I don't.

Gazza was a massive underachiever. Monumental one.

So was my mate Pork Steve. It's about what they do/did, not what they might have done.

I dare say there were players more talented than Gascoigne that we might not have even heard of.

Which is why I in my original post I used 'talent' or natural ability. I'll qualify of the ones I have seen.

Not the best or most accomplished nor the one achieved the most.

It is why for example I say Kane is the best player for England in my years of watching. Best player in the best tournament performing  England team(s).
I'd acknowledge there have been better English players.

People can argue all day whether Lampard or Gerrard or Scholes was the best player but none were as good for England as Platt in my book.

What happened to Pork Steve - women, drink, gambling or drugs?

Agreed.  He was ahead of his time.  I think there are quite a few players today who are technically capable of doing what he did, but at the time he was doing it, it was exceptionally rare. He used his body so well, protecting the ball and not having to do 'tricks' to beat a player.  Obviously he didn't get managed particularly well, and had a couple of horrific injuries (that 30 years ago didn't have the same treatment options they have today), but in pure footballing talent terms, at his best, he was genuinely world-class.  It's just his "best" wasn't seen that often.

Jack at his very best was close to his level, but he was never going to get there once he moved to a club that removed everything that was good about his game.

Morgan is already one of the best players in the Premier League, never mind "English" players, and if he goes to the World Cup and does well, then I think the comparisons with Gazza (Italia '90 version) will be fair.

We  let the Jordan Bowery flame flicker out.

There will no doubt be bids in the Summer. The media will report the £100m release clause and Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid will want/bid.

Especially if he has a good world cup he is off. Same with Emi to be fair.

I'd rather him go Bayern than those named.
