Stuart Griffin - Cheltenhamlion
« on: January 28, 2024, 04:03:32 PM »
Good people of H&V it is with deep regret That I have to inform you that our friend and long time poster Stuart Griffin (Cheltenhamlion) passed away suddenly yesterday. I have just been informed of this by his wife. I don't know anymore at this moment but when I learn anything further I will pass it on. RIP Stu.

Thanks Dave. I had a message from my brother, who used to work with him at Legal and General, a little earlier and couldn’t believe it.

I went to Wembley with him a couple of times and he was always good company.

RIP Stu

Sad news. Had many an argument with him in the Bartons.

Best wishes to his family.

Awful news. He leaves 2 young sons and his lovely wife who I know will all be devastated. His eldest had only just started going down the Villa with him x

Fuck me. That’s so very sad. He was a really good fella. For those of us who have been on this place for a long time we will remember him with fondness. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I first bumped into Stu when he was shagging one of our gang back in 1998. We got on. Fast forward to 2013 and he introduces Jane to me at the Bartons after the Malaga friendly. Then I ended up at L&G with him in 2015. He gave me a start in fraud a few years later. He was a very very clever man who taught me a lot about fraud but more than that he was excellent company down the pub.

He lost his job a few years ago and had just started at a new place recently. Last time I spoke to him was last month, he seemed in fine fettle and was coaching an under 9’s rugby team in Stourbridge. This is deeply, deeply shocking news for a lot of people and I regret not seeing him after the pandemic packed up.

RIP, Stu. Will miss our chats in the Dragon after work, and the daft shit we got up to following the Villa.
