Interesting stat I saw.

Last time we lost a FA Cup Replay at home was in 1976, to eventual winners Southampton.

Time previous to that was something like 1932!

I saw that too. On here, on the previous page.

Got me thinking about replays I remember. Wycombe in the horror season, Palace under O'Neill, Newcastle in 2001. Spurs in 92. No others spring to mind at the moment.

I went to one, late seventies, Palace, at Highfield Road. Might have been the League Cup?

So my tickets never turned up but @avfcsupport on Twitter sorted me two duplicates to collect at the ticket office (which was helpfully located right next to the Shed End). They wanted photo ID from both me and the missus supposedly on instructions from Villa. I had my DL but the wife only had a credit card on her - before we needed to get in a row about the fact I'd paid for both tickets on my card and we were both there so I clearly wasn't selling one on I luckily remembered I had a pic of her passport in my phone from a previous visa application so all was good. Just a warning to others as the two lads at the window next to me didn't seem to be having much joy collecting their tickets. Don't know if they got them in the end.
And a special shout out to Olaftab for saving us seats on the train and company on the way down. Hope you had a good prematch with your mates and got back safely. We made the 10.30 after a bit of a run from Edgware Road to Marylebone. Just need to finish the job in the replay.

We haven't lost an FA Cup replay at Villa Park since 1976. That was to Southampton in R3, they went on to win the Cup that season.
Incredibly you then have to go back to 1932 to find the previous home replay defeat, to Portsmouth in R4.

I remember that one from years ago but sadly out of date these days. Not surprising when we lose to the likes of Stevenage.

I had such high hopes for that midfield.

The way I see it, to win the FA Cup we are going to need to beat Manchester City or Liverpool at some stage, and most likely both of them.  The best (only realistic?) chance we have of beating them will be at Villa Park, in the 5th/6th rounds. So that's what I'm hoping for in the draw tomorrow, a home tie v either Manchester City or Liverpool.
