Boro huffed and puffed, and frustrated us, but had no quality.

Some good positives.

Kamara has come back well.
JJ is getting back to his best…..probably at 75% now.

Thought Ramsey and Moreno did well. Kamara very strong. Donk was ok too I thought. McGinn, Bailey and Duran all poor/very poor. Cash not great either. Starting to worry about form of some key players like McGinn.

On we go...

Did enough, didnt have to get out of second gear really created plenty of chances and fully deserved. Job done and into the 4th round.

Special mention for Dions commentary at the end .  ‘ Boro won’t change their game they will keep coming at them ‘. what ?  they have sat back and just occasionally counter attacked 😳

The commentary was cringeworthy all throughout.  Set narrative (plucky boro) and stick to it.

The ref completely ruined that game for me.  Shows why VAR was needed in the first place as shit as it is.

Villa played okay, won endless corners and should have had a penalty. Konsa hit the post with a super header and we were completely in control throughout. The substitutions were spot on and well-timed.
Cash's goal - lucky, and he had a poor game generally. Konsa and Lenglet played well. Kamara was excellent; not so McGinn.
Duran was poor - no movement and wasn't seeing the movement around him: he needs a loan, now.
Ref was card-happy for us; perhaps he thought that he should set different standards for the Prem side. One tackle on Ramsey in the first half was really bad but not penalised.

Duran was like a statue in second half. Other players not happy with him.

Duran blew his chance today. Clearly frustrated, not a great team player.

I agree except Cash’s goal was inspired, very helpful and brilliant as well as lucky.

Pretty slow-paced first half but thought we upped the tempo in second half and did more than enough to deserve the winning goal. Got unlucky with the Konsa header so evened itself out with the winner. Job done, on we go.

Good to get more minutes in both JJ and Moreno's legs - forget that this is really only the 3rd/4th full game of the season for them, and they're both gradually looking more sharp each time they play.

A deserved win and through to the next round. These games are never easy and being in that hat is all that matters.
