Garcia on bench yesterday and may be given a start v Leeds if Cash not fit. Unless something else happens to boost finances can see Bogarde being sold for FFP+ reasons in the summer if £20M (or better) + add ons + sell on % is offered - pure profit from what I recall and Brighton would be back in if they sell some of their midfielders. Not saying it would be right but the world we find ourselves in.

This was meant to be his chance to develop as a DCM, instead he’s been shunted about to RB again.

Exactly, we’ve got two right backs out injured, it’s not his position but needs must at the moment.

He simply isn’t good enough, wherever he plays. Gets dispossessed very easily.

Agreed. Hopefully if Cash isn't fit we bring in Garcia at right back and move Bogarde to midfield to re-enforce it as Onana and Luiz desperately need help. We're losing the midfield every game now from what was our strongest department partly due to opposition teams outnumbering us there.

García has either been injured or not looked particularly special. If we have the room to bring someone better/more senior in to rotate with Cash like Dean and Maatsen do on the left, let's do it. Send García back home.

I hope Rowe is a selection option for right-back next season.

Emery clearly doesn’t trust Garcia - I think we’ll see Bogarde, Konsa or Lindelof there before he puts Garcia in.

It was a mistake for the third goal - though a shared one with a few other players (he had no easy out pass) and, given the positional change and fatigue of playing with 10 men, there's enough rope to cut him some slack.

I think it's inevitable that younger players are going to be slightly inconsistent. Also, we know he wouldn't have been playing if other players had been fit, and by and large, he's been one of the big pluses for us this year. So I'm pretty surprised at the impatience and lack of support for him.

I'm not. Our season is a disaster, we're falling apart and so inevitably we have to start picking at every fault we can to explain why, when our world class midfield is all out injured and were failing to win every game with ease.

I agree - a few of the recent comments on here are embarrassing.  Bogarde has shown more than enough this season to be considered a really important part of our squad - I said before, when you are in our position and pretty much aren't allowed to have two top class players for every position, someone who can do a job across a number of roles is absolutely invaluable.  I think eventually he will settle as a CDM, but for now his ability and willingness to slot in wherever required more than outweighs the odd mistake he has made.  He's certainly worth a lot more than £20 million to us right now as back up for 3 or 4 positions.

Don't understand why they continue to try to play the ball out of defence when we make so many stuff ups. Every game our hearts are in our mouths because of a bad pass close to our goal.

It's not by accident, it's coached into them. There's been plenty of times when we've pulled teams deep and sprung the trap, but it doesn't work as well without Kamara, Tielemans and McGinn, who are all veterans of that style and great players in their own right.

It's not as easy as just switching the system on the fly sometimes.

I entirely understand why we do that - it’s the foundation for our approach that has got us to where we are. We don’t actually make that many mistakes versus the overall benefit it brings.

Indeed. If we misplay it once a game it would be a lot. It's confirmation bias when it goes wrong and everyone thinks it's the wrong approach, but more often then not we gain ground from it, win a set piece or score.

We've been doing it for most of Emery's reign, strange to question it at this stage!
