He's 22 and has loads of potential. I think some forget he's so young and has only 11 PL starts. He's not ready to be the main midfield holder on his own, but not many are with that little experience.

Didn't impress but wasn't the reason we lost yesterday.

Not great yesterday but like you say not the reason we lost. He’s been excellent off the bench this season, but lots of pressure on him now with our main three midfielders out. I think he’ll be an excellent player for us but needs Onana to stay fit and Luiz to carry on like yesterday/get better, to allow him to come on rather than start in the league.

He’s learning and he’s having to learn a very tough role in team who’s been competing with the very best in the country. He’s also playing in a position having to compare with Kamara.

He’s doing well and this is great experience. It’s a little unfair to suddenly right him off after a performance when the whole team wasn’t really at the races. He’s been thrown into a very makeshift midfield which is missing three word class players.

He’s not good enough to be a regular starter - that’s not a criticism, he’s a developing player.

Needs must though Paul, he’s having to step up and learn fast.

I can’t think of many teams who could cope with losing the three players we have at the same time. If it was Man City they would have just gone out and purchased a few of the best options.

Plus the fact the top sides play with 2 squads, standard practice now and for the very reason we are facing in midfield, you can't sustain an all out attack on the top 4 business end of the season unless you have quality in reserve.

No entirely get that. I was just making the distinction that him struggling a bit when he’s starting is not a massive surprise or a suggestion he’s hopeless.

I think he is really improving, and we've used him as a bit of a dogsbody in some matches. He will only get better playing alongside the quality we have in the middle...when fit obviously...with his versatility he will be an important player for us in the run in.

Played well today, IMO, as I just posted on match thread. May as well do so here, too.

He was very good tonight. Brighton targeted him with loads of pressure down his side and he dealt with it admirably.

His best performance in the position, I think.

Like Cash Mark I, he didn't appear too keen to venture forward.
